Another version of the Dumbbell. Something else I like to try periodically to see how things at the FLC Observatory are improving. This mostly just had longer subs than 2008, and slightly different processing. LRGB are 30 minutes each, with L having 3 minute subs, and RGB with 5 minute. Processing is where I need some opinions, since I have only looked at this version on two monitors - one looks pleasing and subtle, while the other monitor makes this just look dim and flat. Which is it really?

After the fact, I realize that the scope probably needs some significant collimation. We have been doing lots of fiddling and have collimated twice recently, but apparently not right before this set. Oh well.

Nice internal detail Charlie! You can always increase the color a little and even adjust the tint if you like in Photoshop. On my monitor is looks like it could use a little luminance added, not meaning more exposures but rather adjustments in Photoshop.

Hi Charles,

I've looked at this on two monitors,my home LCD and my laptop at work right now, neither are really calibrated but I think they're close,it looks good on both, better on the home LCD.

I think it's a great looking image as is but as Floyd said you could probably boost M27 itself a bit and maybe give the stars a tiny bit of sharpening? I think this would help give the image more depth.

Overall it's sweet!

Charlie,
Nicely done. I do like your second image better.
