After my first night out with my newly acquired SBIG CCD (used ST8-E), I've quickly come to the realization that CCDOPS isn't going to cut it! So, what is everyone using for SBIG camera control software?
I'm aware of MaximDL but it's quite pricey. I'm not sure if a used version of MaximDL 4 from someone that's upgraded to V5 is something that's attainable or allowed. Are there any other alternatives that allow dual chip control, cheaper hopefully?

Thanks,
Robert

The CCDSoft that comes with the camera is much more versatile than the CCDOPS that SBig seems to love.
I installed it and it seems to be all that I need. There is filter wheel control and you can set up an automatic series of filter exposures.
Give that a try. I also had MaximDL, but for some reason I just did not seem to find it that easy to use. I find CCDSoft easy to use in comparison. But I am sure that MaximDL is a great program. However, you have CCCDSoft on the CD that came with the camera and a license is also included, so you do not have to pay $400-500 for more software. smile
