Hi all:

This is one of two solar active regions on 9/26. There were some great proms that day too, but I blew my full disk/prom exposures. Solar imaging is remarkably challenging! I was able to salvage this close up.

This was taken with a Solar Spectrum 0.3A Ha filter.

Well, for a "salvaged" photo, it looks pretty darned good!

Hi Jim and congrats on this nice capture! Sorry for the ones gone bad: I know solar imaging can be as frustrating as it is exciting at times wink
Would you be so kind to specify all the equipment used for this image: scope and relative focal length, aperture of the ERF and free aperture of filter, camera and whatever info you can add.
As regards putting together proms and disc exposures, I found this document by Paul Hyndman very useful in learning some of the tricks of solar imaging. If you don't know it I suggest you take a look at it and I hope you'll find useful tips. The last pages talk about the problems of putting together disc and proms images and, although the image processing software explained is Image Plus, you can translate the operations into PS quite easily.
