I was able to get some shots of Jupiter in the lower western sky Saturday night. It was hazy. I used a Philips 680 web cam, a 90mm Meade 390, & Ultima 2x barlow. I got 20 shots and used Registax to combine 7 of the best.

I used Photoshop to sharpen, change brightness and color a bit.

Any tips for the newbie?

Clear skies,

Tim Hornbeck

Hi Tim ,

For a first Jupiter that is a very good image ,
I would suggest getting more images to stack ,
with my Toucam Pro I shoot Jupiter at 10FPS for
60 seconds and maybe 20 groups of 600 and choose
the best group to stack from .
Also try a 3x barlow

Thanks,

Wes Higgins

Here is a better stacked image from another night. Had better conditions too. I took a AVI for 2 min. then made frames into BMPs. Took the best 95 shots and stacked. Made some minor adjustments in Paintshop Pro.

Meade 390 (90mm, f/11)
Ultima 2x barlow
Philip Vesta Pro 680 webcam
CG4 mount

Clear skies,

Tim
