I'm a little nervous about putting a Hershel wedge on my Tak TOA150. I can't get past the thought of driving 100s of degrees F of solar power through my very expensive glass. Can anyone quell my fears of melting coatings, eyepieces or worse?

Carpe Noctum

Mortal as I am, I know that I am born for a day. But when I follow at my pleasure the serried multitude of the stars in their circular course, my feet no longer touch the earth.

Not to worry. Heat is not concentrated up front. heat builds up at the focus point, and the wedge is designed to dissipate it.
