This is my second attempt at Mars. It is a lot tougher to image than the gas giants!

226 frame stack, taken with an 8" f/5 Konus newtonian and an SAC-7B from Mt. Wilson, CA.

Comments appreciated!

Hi Jake,

Very good Mars image , you can sure see the
eye of Mars coming around .
I agree that Mars is a tougher subject than
Jupiter or Saturn and the low altitude of Mars
at our locations hurts too .
I'm waiting for some good weather to take another
crack at Mars myself .

Thanks,

Wes Higgins

Jake,

An excellent image of Mars showing much detail. I note Solis Lacus (dark spot over upper left limb), Phasis (curved, dark streak left of the CM), and Mare Sirenum (largest dark feature on the CM). The South Polar Cap (SPC) also shows much detail (e.g. central dark hood).

Please keep up the good work.
