My first M-42 wide field CCD picture

Hi Gang,

Last Friday, I took my first CCD picture with my SBIG ST-10XME.

I was with a friend. We used his telescope, a 8" f/4 Perl-Vixen Newtonian telescope on his GP-DX Skysensor 2000PC mount.

Unfortunately, the Orion Nebula was at a low altitude in the sky and my picture is only in B & W. It was the first picture with the telescope of my friend and it was the first time we used his telescope for a CCD imaging session.

The 8" f/4 Perl-Vixen has a very short focal length and we can see coma on the edges of the picture. My friend has not the coma corrector unfortunately.

It is in "Picture of the Month" or by the Popup html page :

I wait your impressions and your comments.

Friendship,

Florent

Florent,
Nice unguided! image.
I too am changing my setup. A GEM and a 14" SC or large Newt. I think you will really like the Losmandy.
What has been your experience with the SBIG AO7 device so far? I'm ordering one this week. I notice that you have gone to a gem and done away with your LX200 fork mount..is this because of fork vibration or tracking problems that the AO7 couldn't quite solve? Curious.
I would appreciate any comments on the AO7. Thanks
