Registax - *WHAT* am I doing Wrong??

Folks,

If there's anyone here who could give me a pointer with Registax, I would really appreciate it. Specifically, no matter where I set the the quality value, it just goes through and selects *ALL* the frames anyway! Obviously, the results are far from optimal unless I go through and maunally look at them all. When you have over a thousand frames, needless to say, it can be a real pain in the rear. Can anyone offer any suggestions, or vector me to a site that has some kind of tutorial on how to use the program?

Thanks,

Maurizio

Hi Maurizio,

Are you using the stack graph to select the amount of frames to stack ?

Thanks,

I'm feeling your pain!

I also notice that Registax runs really slow when I have more than 500-600 frames. When I step through the frames manually to select the ones I want, there is often a delay of 2-10 seconds while the hard drive is reading on each frame. It is painfully slow. Is this normal? Or do I have something configured wrong? When I have had the patience to get through it, it has taken me 2-3 hours to process a stack of 1200 frames. Doesn't that seem ridiculously long?

I'm running it on a P4 laptop @1.7 GHz, 1GB RAM. I can't believe that it is a lack of computer power.

I think I understand how it works. The quality setting is just an estimate that reduces the number of frames that are optimized and, therefore, the amount of time taken by optimization.

You actually determine the number of frames that are used. In V2 this is done on the stacking step (with the sliders on the quality graph) and in V3 with the Limit sliderl at the bottom of the page after alignment.
