DIY filter mod for DSLR

I am using a Canon 450D to do AP. I'm thinking of doing the mod myself.

I operate on a shoestring budget (yeah, I know how ridiculous that is when trying to do AP). So I'm hoping to find a good deal by buying a leftover from someone who bought a filter and then never got around to doing the job.

Where in the Classifieds would such an object appear? I assume "filters", but then one never knows!

BTW, since we're on the topic, is the Baader BCF filter the only one people use?

(I have a Meade f/9 102mm APO on an AVX using a Canon 450D.)

Clears,
Joe
