I took this prime focus shot of M42 through a friend's piggybacked Orion ST102 f/5 achromatic refractor on the night of January 27th. The camera used was my Canon EOS Digital Rebel. There was plenty of chromatic aberration present around the brighter stars so I cropped and enlarged the original photo. This is hardly the best picture of the Orion Nebula ever done but it does have a rather nice impressionistic look I think.
