I haven't bought a DSLR yet but would greatly appreciate some input concerning which would be the best (after having the Astrodon filter installed). I would like a full frame size chip but those seem to be about 3000.00 or a lot more. Unless any of you can suggest a better choice, I am thinking of either the:
Canon EOS 7D, 19mpix, 22.3 X 14.9 size chip, weight 29 oz., around $1500 or less
Versus:
Canon EOS 60D, 19mpix,same size chip, weight 23 oz., around $900 or so
Money matters a bit, I would be willing to spend up to $2000 for a body. I would only use the camera for Astronomy. Thank you all very much for any help, John Hales cwy

The 5D MkII runs about $2500, full frame. The 7D is the better choice of the two you have listed (I have both).

Hi,

I am no expert in this mind you...a neophyte actually....but I am curious.
Considering your setup and the fact that you are willing to spend up to 2K for a body.
Why do an DSLR at all? Why not consider the ST-8300C instead?

From what I have seen there are some great images coming from DSLR's but the CCD images are just simply better...no?

Cheers,
