Grand Canyon In July

Here's a pic of the Grand Canyon taken near the El Tovar Hotel, on the South Rim, around the middle of July. Haziness in the distance is smoke caused by a fire on the North Rim and two other fires not far from the canyon. Temperature on the rim was 97 degrees, in the shade, but at the bottom of the canyon, the park rangers were getting temperature reports as high as 128 degrees. But hey, it's a DRY heat!!

Hey Stephen,

Very nice shot! It reminded me of one I took only 9 months earlier -- and almost from the same spot. The major difference being the weather. We had snow!

South Rim in the morning with a Nikon D100.

Clear skies,

Jerry

I used a Canon A95 on the auto setting and mounted to a mono-pod for stability. I processed the pic slightly (color correction) using Photo Play 2 software. Here's another from the same location, but looking into Bright Angel Canyon.
