Tried some Konica Centuria 400

Shot these Sun evening. Had some flexure problems that I have to iron out.
M-31 was 20 minutes at f/6.3 with a 350mm telephoto lens. Guided with a C-8 on a TAL-2 mount.
Double cluster was 6 minute exposure.

Binocular Treats

Sat night here in Central FL was very nice, cool & clear, so some in our club gathered at the dark sky site. I wanted to travel light and took my 6" f/6.7 dob and my 15x70 bino and parallelogram mount. I was immediately impressed in how much could be seen in the binos. M-31, 32, and even 110, were readily visible. The main galaxy filled the 4.5* fov almost edge to edge. M-33 was more apparent than in the 6" dob.
The number of clusters in and around Cass. was mind boggling.
I was very surprised that even the Helix was visible in the binos.
I was so impressed that when I go to Chiefland later this week, I will take only the binos and mount. There will be enough "big" scopes there to last a lifetime!! 8)

In the late 80's I was finishing up a degree in Info Systems Mgnt. Our computer prof had just told us that the operating speed of a computer could never exceed 500 mhz because of the buss path. I had just bought an Apple II GS, 2.8 mhz max speed, so 500 seemed REALLY fast. This E-machine I am working with is 4 yrs old and 667 mhz :C
We were also told wild stories on the limitations in minaturazation and that the large business computers would continue to be large.
Yadda, Yadda, Yadda. So much for their predictions 8)

I got a faitly good shot last evening. I used a 350mm telephoto lens at f/5.5, about a 3 minute exposure on Fuji 400 color neg film.

Any Pentax istDS users out there?

I saw one at a deep discount electronics store in Atlanta last week and was impressed with outward appearances and "feel". Not so interested in astrophotography use but just general photography. I already own a Pentax ZX5n autofocus with several lenses that will work with the digital version.

My wife and I were discussing the severe rains in S. CA this evening. We can't even remember it raining for the almost 3 years we were in Pt. Mugu back in the mid 70's. I'm sure it did, but just don't remember. It is very obvious that huge quantities of rain are not something to be desired in that part of the country sad
Hope things get better there for everyone real soon.
