Hi Ralph, That is a beautiful photo. I don't do imaging but monitor this forum just to check out all the great pic's. Your's is among the best I've seen. There are a lot of great ones, I'd love to some day be able to do this. I would imagine when I get my boy's thru college(and by-george they will go)I'll be able to start getting a few of the things I need to do it. Thanks for sharing a great image and please keep them coming. Sincerely, Darrell

Silicon wax on Teflon pads

Posted By Darrell Hensley

Ed, I tried this about a year ago and it made the most terrible and loudest sound that sounded unmistakably like a dog bellowing. My wife actually asked me why I was kicking a dog and we don't even own one. I ended up having to use sandpaper to get ot off my alt bearings. It was awful, I never tried it again. Regards, Darrell

cheap mirrors

Posted By Darrell Hensley

I emailed the Sylvan company about their mirrors and today they actually emailed me back. They said that I was the second person today to complain about their 6" parabolic mirror. The other person said that their mirror was F3.5 instead of the F5 as advertised. Mine was between F3.5 and F4. I explained to them that the worst problem with this mirror is that you can't use it for astronomy and they had better be getting a new supplier before they lose their company. They also sell baby strollers, imagine putting little junior in that thing. I told them that word is out about their mirrors and to possibly expect to be stuck with a lot of shaving mirrors. At least they know we're here now. Regards, Darrell

I feel the love here!

Hi Floyd, I for one (knock on wood) have never had one single problem with a Meade telescope. It's the electronics in the mounts that make me want to scream and I do. But I can't say what the words are that I scream. Herb would ban me from astromart then who would I gripe to then? Best wishes to everyone with Meade mounts, Darrell

Prism diagonals

Posted By Darrell Hensley

Matt I use a Williams optics 2" dielectric diagonal on my AR5 and the views are absolutely fabulous. I also use the 2" William optic eyepieces which to me is about as good as I will ever buy at this point. I could'nt be happier with the views I get. I suppose the naglers would be better but I can't imagine how, I am absolutely 100% satisfied with my W O . Cheers, Darrell
