Some Lu075M Lunar pics

Hi all,

I got a chance to image the moon last night in pretty horrid seeing (3-4/10) so I used my new 2.5 X's powermate.
If it was'nt for the Baader 685nm IR passband filter I probably would have deleted all the seq files! Anyhow this is a much better 1st light for the Lu75M, when I was in Mexico I made the mistake of playing with the brightness/gamma/contrast levels instead of just leaving them at factory settings, this time I just played with the exposure and gain like Paolo recommended. So, 18" Starmaster and Lu075M at 30fps.

Copernicus rays!

Well I'm still plagued by bad seeing so I've been idling around at 5200mm with the 2.5 powermate. In Wes latest image thread on Copernicus theres some talk about its ray structure, my image shows a bit of that along with the craterlet chains of stadius.
Taken with 18" Starmaster, Lu075m, and the Baader IR passband filter. 30fps

these are my last images with the lu075m tomorrow it gets sent back to Paolo, to trade for the Infinity 2-2!

Hi all,

Recently the webmaster for my local astro club (Ottawa RASC) made a page for some of my better lunar images (some planetary too), a lot are scaled down slightly to save webspace but 2 that I think are my best (the Theophilus/Cyrillus mosaic and my Rima Ariadeus mosaic) are left full size. Hopefully someday I'll get a page up but for now this will do alright!

theres also a page with old images of my observatory, before I got my 2 Starmasters, I also had a F/12 5" Astrophysics refractor, but that got sold to pay for my 18" SM.

Hi all,

I'm sure this news will be of interest to all here. Apparently the next version of IP will have the abilityy to do reading aligning (and grading) and stacking of videos! The beta version came out a few days ago (you need version 2.5 for it to work). I talked to Mike Unsold a few days back and he was also very interested in possibly supporting Lumenera cameras as well, so when version 2.75 comes out it may be able to read seq files directly, convert to fits which is the best format and then grade align and finally stack the video!!! This is only a possiblity as of yet but it may be we will have another powerful piece of software at our disposal! I know Iris does a lot of this already (except read esq files) but IP is much more user friendly.

Infinity 2-2 1st light-Mars

Hi all,

Got a very short window to play with my new 1616X1216 Infinity 2-2 made by Lumenera. Trtansparency sucked and there were lots of high clouds, seeing was not good as the CSC predicted. I got one ok sequence shot before clouds rolled in for good, it was a short sequence with only 890 frames of which 200 were used in the stack. Seeing was 4-6/10. 5X's powermate and a IR passband filter, 18" Starmaster. Can't wait to try it on the moon in a little while!!

Registax problems

Hi all,

I was out last night trying my Infinity camera on the moon and Mars, but I'm having troubles processing the damn things! I converted the seq files to individual tif files cut and paste em to Reg 3 (since to avis are too big for reg 1.4 gig). Now I get through the align and optimise phase but then always run into a access violation crash in the stack phase!! cwy I tried incresing the virtual memory on my laptop, but the same thing keeps happening! Perhaps this is due to the large format of the files I'm using? They are 930 X 670, never had this problem with small format 640X480 avis or tiffs.
Any suggestions?

OK, I'll post this anyway.... Seeing was below average (again, damn jetstream!) but I imaged the moon with the Infinity 2-2 and my 18" Starmaster. With the 5X's barlow this works out to a crazy image scale of 0.09"/pixel!! 8O
Probably too much for the seeing but heres a stack of 200 in Reg 3. It would have been jaw dropping if the seeing was good! Ah well one of these days!
