CGE Pro mount

Hi all,

Does anyone have any feedback, positive or negative on the CGE Pro mount? Specifically I'd use the scope (C14 and mount) for planets only. I see Celestron is having a nice sale on CGE Pro scopes and I'm thinking now might be the time to make the move. I'd also want to put the mount on Wheelie Bars or a Scope buggy to get it from my patio to the back yard (20-30 feet).

Any feedback (either public or private) is welcomed.

2x Televue Barlow question

Does anyone know if you can increase the 2x 1.25" Televue's amplification with extension tubes? I'm not talking about the Powermate, just the 2x barlow.

I am just pondering some ideas so humor me. smile If I put an AP1200 mount on, say, the 24" portable pier, how high up would the centre of the cradle be?

I'm batting around some ideas that I may not be able to act on for a few years, but I love planning and pondering.

EM200 mount issue

Hi all,

I sure have been running in a wave of bad luck lately. First my EQ6 mount pops and dies, now this morning my EM200 mount is being difficult. When I turn it on, I hear the motors running and it slews in both RA and Dec, but it won't track. An extremely nice view of Venus just drifted through my FOV everytime. I'd slew it back and off it would drift. I'm guessing a trip to TNR is in order unless anyone has any ideas.

At least my CGE-Pro is working like a champ!

Question about filter wheels.

Hi all,

I'm not sure where to ask this, or where to turn so I start here.

I'm using a 5 stop Orion manual filter wheel. It works great and really no complaints. But I'm wondering if there are alternatives to the nosepiece where the camera slides in. The barlow/camera combination is secured by one screw. I have a feeling that this **may** not keep the train in line, there may be a slight tilt. I'd love to replace the nosepiece with one that has a self centering attachment. Does anyone make this? How do any of you deal with this, or am I being too picky?

Mewlon 250 finder

Hi all,

I have owned a Mewlon 250 for going on 9 years and no, you can't pry it from my hands. My question, the focusing knob on the finder is extremely loose. Is there a way to tighten it so my finder stays pretty much in focus?

Restoring a mounts finish

Hi all,

I have a CGE-Pro and tripod. The finish on the black metal part of the tripod looks like it is a bit faded. Does anyone have a suggestion on what I can do to try to restore the finish back to close to what it was originally? BTW, I should mention that the finish is anodized.
