Clarence/Alito Scramble For Financial Extensions

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas asked for an extension to file his annual financial disclosure, a move that comes in the wake of a ProPublica investigation into trips he accepted from a GOP megadonor."
"Thomas and fellow conservative Justice Samuel Alito both requested extensions, a spokesman for the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts confirmed."

Do you think either one would have even bothered to do so unless the publication of Thomas' extravagant vacations and other benefits paid for by Harlan had uncovered by propublica? I don't...

Trump Indicted. Again.

Jim,
Haven't you been paying attention to what the Republicans are saying? They've already rendered a verdict. McCarthy and company are rallying around Trump like flies on ---- even though they don't know all of the charges and they haven't seen the evidence. Meanwhile, Trump is fundraising off of it.
That said, you also haven't been paying attention to the cons on the forum who have already explained it to you: "They just don't want Trump to run again! What's a matter with you, Jim, get with the program!...

Did you see the pictures of the boatload of boxes of classified documents Trump had in his bathroom, in his shower, and in his ballroom?
It looks like a chinese cargo ship just unloaded at the docks.
I see Trump let two of his attorneys go today, including one who was recently on CNN and who was vigorously extolling the innocence of his client. Well, there were two openings on his legal team so I'm wondering why Jonathan Turley and Alan Dershowitz didn't jump at the chance to provide pro bono work and defend their principles of righteous indignation by representing Donald John Trump in a court of law...

You actually recognize Russia as a threat?  Better tell that to Trump, Greene, and the so-called "freedom caucus"...

The takeaway seems to have been that given the district in which this case was brought, the success rate of federal prosecutors, and the high profile nature of the case, the case itself would have to be really strong.  They also pulled a Trump judge

He could also get convicted and get a slap on the wrist.
Definitely a bad break on drawing Aileen Cannon as the initial presiding judge but the prosecutorial team had no choice but to bring before a federal jurisdiction based in Florida. Given the fact that your cited commentators evidently recognize the potential for significant bias against federal prosecutions in that jurisdiction, it seems that's they're hedging their bets on that rather than on the merits of the case...

Of course Greg didn't bother to read the links so he know not of what he speaks, Here's a sampling of what he would have learned if he had read them:
“If you look at the trajectory of China-Russia relations within the last decade, bilateral ties between the two countries have really developed tremendously,” Alicja Bachulska, policy fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) told CNBC, saying that the process of developing ties had begun back in the 1990s."
“It’s basically about certain strategic interests, that are very close to both Beijing and Moscow at this point,” she added. “For both Russia and China, the main interest is to weaken the U.S.-led international order, that’s their primary goal, long term and short term.”

That, of course, is completely independent from Trump being indicted for alleged crimes committed on American soil. Beyond that, Putin is praying Trump wins the next election since Trump and company favor Russia, period.
