McCarthy: "A Bathroom Door Locks"

Posted By Rod Kaufman

The speaker of the house defends Trump's placement of classified documents in his bathroom by saying bathroom doors have locks:
https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2023/06/12/kevin-mccarthy-trump-classified-document-sot-ip-vpx.cnn

Meanwhile, the GOP, headed by 89 year old Chuck Grassley "dig for dirt" on Biden by recycling bogus conspiracy theories :
"During the 2020 presidential campaign, Trump and his supporters spread the claim that Biden pushed for the firing of Ukraine’s top prosecutor in order to halt an investigation of his son, who received hundreds of thousands of dollars in compensation for sitting on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company."
"The Associated Press at the time described the allegation as “a widely discredited theory.”
"Grassley doesn’t know if the phone recordings exist or if the FBI was able to track them down."

For those who want to know what's real:
"Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, this month said that the FBI and Justice Department under the leadership of then-Attorney General Bill Barr reviewed the allegations made by the unnamed foreign national and found they did not merit further investigation."
"Raskin said the FD-1023 form that Grassley and Comer reviewed contained an allegation from the unnamed foreign national that relayed a conversation with another person and that the source could not corroborate the information."
"Raskin dismissed the claim as “secondhand hearsay” and argued the “confidential human source said that he had no way of knowing about the underlying veracity of the things that he was being told,” according to a New York Times report. "
"NBC News, citing a senior law enforcement official, reported this month that the FBI and Scott Brady, then the U.S. attorney for Western Pennsylvania, reviewed the allegation in 2020 and found the bribery allegation wasn’t substantiated. "

Hunter Biden to plead guilty to tax crimes and admit gun offence

I'll be surprised if Joe took a 5 million dollar bribe, but that is the sort of thing that needs to be fully investigated.   About a million times more important than lying on a gun form or run of the mill tax evasion.   J
You're still buying into that debunked crap?

Hunter Biden to plead guilty to tax crimes and admit gun offence

Some are noticing that the deal more than undercuts the left's anti-gun rhetoric.   Hunter could have gotten 10 years for lying on his weapons permit application.  Instead, he is not even prosecuted on that charge under this deal.   The anti-gun lobby is going to have this thrown in their faces for years, along the lines of, "you say we need new laws, but you refuse to prosecute the laws we have on the books!"

The perception of a two tiered justice system by everyone except the mainstream press and Biden's core supporters is, along with many other issues, going to doom Biden to lose in '24 in my opinion.  I am not happy with the prospect of Trump winning again.   The D's need to intervene and get a candidate who is not 80 years old and who does not have the baggage Biden does.

Maybe Newsome?  Someone else?  A nice liberal housecat with a penchant for foreign policy?

Er, uh, cooler heads know better:
"Senate Republican Whip John Thune (S.D.) also held back from lashing out at the Justice Department, pointing out that the U.S. attorney who cut the deal was a Trump appointee. '"Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) declined to comment about Biden’s legal problems as he walked to the Senate floor Tuesday afternoon. "

Thomas, Eastman & Alito's Fishing Trip

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"An ex-adviser to former Vice President Mike Pence claimed Wednesday that he convinced Donald Trump attorney John Eastman that not even conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas would embrace the controversial legal theory that Pence could block Joe Biden’s 2020 victory."
https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/21/politics/john-eastman-bar-hearing-trump/index.html
I think he would have, given his solo SCOTUS vote on the Trump records.
Meanwhile:
"Justice Samuel Alito defended going on an Alaska fishing trip with a politically active Republican megadonor without disclosing it in a rare Wall Street Journal op-ed on Tuesday."
"Why it matters: The op-ed was posted hours before ProPublica published an investigation saying Alito took a luxury vacation with billionaire Paul Singer, who later had cases before the Supreme Court."
"An editor's note at the top of Alito's Journal op-ed noted that ProPublica had reached out to the justice on Friday asking him to respond to a request for comment by Tuesday at noon."
"ProPublica wrote that a spokesperson for the court informed them that Alito would not comment."

Margie Gets Pissed At Bobo: You're A Little Bitch!

Posted By Rod Kaufman

McCarthy's circus of MAGA clowns erupted at each other on the floor of the house:
"The messy feud between two of MAGA world’s biggest stars burst into public view on Wednesday, when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) called Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) a “little bitch” to her face on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives."
"The angry exchange came as the two lawmakers have been swiping at each other over their competing resolutions to impeach President Joe Biden."

Living in my head

Yeah, I started thinking the worst and thought about someone in the area calling the police and doing a welfare check on him. But he does have family, a brother and sister that we know of from his postings so I'd think they'd be checking if they hadn't heard from him.

I hope he wasn't a stowaway on that submersible. Looks like it was a catastrophic implosion. If so, they all went quick, probably in much less than a second. From what I heard last night from a retired navy doctor on CNN, the death from CO2 narcosis would have been far more horrific in that you slowly see the tunnel vision occurring and you're aware of what's happening as the brain is starved of oxygen along with other nightmarish symptoms.
Looks like the ex-employees who warned the titanium hull was two inches too thin were right...

House censors Schiff

I have no illusions that trump will be convicted, but I surely don't want to see him as the GOP nominee either with a chance of regaining the presidency. What I would like is to have the old GOP, that one I complained about so much, back with real conservatives who want what's best for the country, not what's best for trump, their pocketbook, and the maga base.
I couldn't believe a recent poll that found 62% thought the charges are "politically motivated". Have they not seen the pictures of boxes of documents in the shower, bathroom and ballroom? Have they not heard the tapes of Trump discussing classified material that he didn't declassify? And, of course, there's no way they even bothered to look at the actual indictment.
That said, Schiff has been honest and objective in assisting/directing the investigations he partook in and this nonsense about him lying about this or that is just made up MAGA malarkey...

So what specific charges did either Durham or Mueller recommend or bring against Schiff? And which specific statement and accusation that you can cite with a link that substantiates lying on Schiff's part? In other words, other than conducting a congressional probe, in essence, a congressional investigation that parallels portions of what Durham and Mueller covered in their own investigations, can you cite that specifically state Schiff's words that demonstrates he was lying about something in the congressional probe?
