"Anonymous Sources" and "allegedly" are little more than propaganda tools used by the press to convict the subject of something before a jury does all in the name of getting there 1st in the news cycle. So, Greg still has the same idiotic idea in his head that the term is used for for some sort of nefarious purpose so the press can get away with "convicting people" before they go on trial. Basically, it's the Trump version that the media is "the enemy of the state."
