I'd certainly like to agree with you on this one, James.

But look at how long they're taking to decide on the other "slam-dunk", that of reinstating Trump's name on the Colorado ballot and hence on all the other ballots. The closer it get to the elections, the better the victory will be for Trump because he will claim both victimhood and vindication and all of it will be fresh in the minds of the voters.

Add to that the delays "judge" Aileen MAGACannon is ritually performing for the Trump team. Yesterday's Cannon folly saw Trump in her court in front of a seemingly impressed and pleased "jurist" who may very well grant the Trump team's request for an August trial that would deliberately knock Judge Chutkin's trial off her docket at which point cannon would then conveniently delay her August trial due to "procedural motions" raised at that point by Trump's lawyers.

The fix IS in...

I despair of convincing anyone, but the reality is that these cases against Trump present novel issues of law.   It takes the various layers of courts of appeal time to be briefed and to deliberate.   In this case, Rod is wrong, justice delayed is not justice denied.   He only thinks that because he has already decided, before the trial, that Trump is guilty and he is counting on a conviction to save Biden's chances.

The reality is that justice rushed is justice denied.  Every defendant, from Trump to the most heinous terrorist and mass murderer has the right to challenge any novel and legally unsettled aspect of the case against them.  To deny Trump his pre-trial arguments and appeals just because there is an election in November is wrong, corrupt, anti-American, anti-liberty and I am proud that the courts are having no part of it.   I am dismayed that you guys, some of you anyway, see this fundamental application of due process as reflecting the fix being in.  That's shameful.  Jim
Oh please, Jim, look at how fast SCOTUS heard the Trump ballot case while slow walking the immunity case. I suppose you could argue that, compared to what Trump's favorite jurist, Aileen Cannon, is doing despite being slapped down twice by an appellate court, that the SCOTUS timing is just an anomaly and maybe it is but it's also true that Trump has the legal resources, paid for by his campaign committee, to conduct these sorts of appeals whereas the "every defendant" does not, except in theory.

It's equally obvious that Trump is manipulating the legal system to his advantage to avoid accountability before the election and "every defendant" is not running for president either so, please, spare us your legal high horse arguments that our arguments are seemingly corrupt, anti American, anti-liberty and only occur as the result of an overzealous prosecutor whom I believe is simply trying to do his job...

I think your take is the correct one.
Jim,
Here's the frustration and the concern that I have and likely along with scores of others like legal scholars, legal pundits, etc:

The Trump cases aren't really examples of justice denied or rushed. They're cases of justice EVADED. The obvious example should be, in my opinion, the documents case. Virtually any other person in this country would be serving time by now and if not, perhaps because of some sort of physical infirmity, they certainly would have been tried by now. In Trump's case, in which one or more of his own former lawyers think that he most vulnerable, his own current legal team thinks Cannon will delay the trial after their upcoming procedural motions, until after November at which time Trump, if elected will fire Jack smith and order the justice department to remove any and all pending federal cases against him. Or, if a federal case did make it to trial, he would self-pardon himself if convicted. And, he can't be prosecuted for state actions as a sitting president, either.

So no matter how you slice it, these cases are a clear and present series of glaring examples of evasion of justice...

More Evidence Of Trump's Dementia...

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"Former President Donald Trump on Saturday again confused President Joe Biden with former President Barack Obama after attempting to defend his verbal slipups on the campaign trail and claiming they were intentional."

“And [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, you know, has so little respect for Obama that he’s starting to throw around the 'nuclear' word. You heard that, nuclear. He’s starting to talk nuclear weapons today. I was waiting for that to happen. But we have a fool, a fool as a president,” Trump said at a campaign rally in Richmond, Virginia."

OH, so now even ALL the liberal justices on the US Supreme court are in cahoots are they?

That's your assertion now?   tongue

Its almost hard to believe that you would even MAKE that insinuation.

Just shows how utterly unhinged and psychotically deep your Trump Derangement Syndrome goes.

Yeah, that's what happened, the leftist justices on the US Supreme court led by Ketanji Brown Jackson are in the tank for Donald Trump.

You really do need to sit down with the best shrink in the nation to see what is wrong, but then again, since you're a dyed in the wool communist, I guess being a ward/puppet of the communist Democrat party might explain things!

LOL
Oh, so it's not just a coincidence, Rich?

So the timing of the unanimous decision and the amount of time it took to unanimously decide upon it and the court's decision to drop everything else it was doing in order to give it one of the most expedited hearings in the history of the court with its decision occurring months later and on the day before super Tuesday is not a coincidence according to you.

Thanks for proving my point...

Does that explain it?

Give us a DATE that ALL the leftist judges on the US Supreme Court decided to make a political stand and become schills FOR Donald Trump?

I could say it a million times, you're the dumbest human being on AMart, that is a fact!    LOL
Rich,
I INITIALLY said in my OP it must just be a coincidence and subsequently in response to yours,

It's all just a coincidence, Rich. I said so, just reread my OP. And who said anything about justice Brown or Sotomayor jumping into any camp? Not me. Oh, it was YOU.
LOL! LOL! LOL!

Rod and Rich will never see justices who disagree with them as anything other than political hacks.   Rational beings should know better.

Jim
Well Jim, more often than not, the so-called "originalists" (obvious example: Thomas) decide their rulings on that basis and nothing but that basis not to mention "states-rights" (glaring example" Roe vs Wade) and so much so that rational human beings (ex: legal scholars) reasonably question their objectivity.

Coincidently, I heard one CNN commentator today note essentially the same thing: the conservatives seem to consistently be "originalist/textualist" when they want to be but not in this case...

SCOTUS's Decision On Monday

And right ahead of Super Tuesday. Gee, I wonder what they're going to say...
https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4505293-supreme-court-trump-14th-amendment-case/

So, if it's the "slam dunk" decision in favor of Trump, like y'all say it is, then it, as I've previously stated, will enable Trump to proclaim his victimhood and vindication on the day ahead of his coronation as the standard bearer of his party.

Must just be a coincidence...

Conservative Federal Judge Luttig: SCOTUS Ruling "Shocking"

Just to be clear, I agree with the CO court conclusion that Trump planned, encouraged, and participated in an insurrection on 1/6 to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power and hopefully create enough confusion and chaos to allow him to remain in power for at least long enough to try and continue pursuing holding on to power. Regardless, that was not the question before the SC. The question was whether States have the right to disqualify him from their ballots, and the answer is a resounding no. I wouldn't blame the SC; instead, blame the vagueness of the 14th Amendment and the lack of jurisprudence behind it for not giving it genuine effect and enforceability.
"That part seems a little over the top."

Well, that's easy off ramp for SCOTUS: they mandated congress should act to remove a candidate from a ballot. That's never going to happen. Congress can barely approve a budget to keep its own government functioning. I agree with judge Luttig that no effective change will ever occur even in Trump's case wherein his actions were in clear violation of the 14th amendment. And, of course, Trump is celebrating his victimhood and his vindication even though the SCOTUS decision provides neither...
