1st light Atik webcam/Albategnius shot

Posted By Paul Maxson

Mike,

I heard a rumor that the atik cooled cameras had a light leak from the fan area. Did you notice anything like that? Also, any fan vibrations? I've heard a lot of good things about these cameras as well...your feedback would be most welcome!

Hope your seeing gets better soon. I had decent seeing last night, but now the wind is blowing like crazy...so guess it was a one night thing. smile

Best Barlow for C9.25 and Webcam

Posted By Paul Maxson

Craig,

I use a 2.5x Powermate with my C 9.25 and love it. I also have a 3x Televue barlow for those evenings where I can push it a bit more. I find that my 2x Celestron shortie works best on the moon and is handy when you are pointed straight overhead (on the Alt-Az mount) and don't have as much clearance under the fork. One barlow, it would be the 2.5x Powermate.

Enjoy!!

NS8GPS jumping while tracking

Posted By Paul Maxson

Have you updated the firmware on your GPS? Jumping like that was a problem with older versions of the firmware. I forget what the latest is, I think it is 4.05 or something like that. My C8 did the same thing and after I updated it all but went away.

Opinions on Tak 210 and dealers email

Posted By Paul Maxson

In general, I would believe the statement about detail on the moons of Jupiter. I have imaged hints of detail with my C8, and have seen others image detail as well. I have definately imaged detail on Ganymede and hints on Io with the 9.25" SCT which is only 25mm larger. I can't say about seeing detail visually...my eyes are not very good, but I wouldn't bet against it under super seeing and very high power (50-75x/inch).

A Mewlon is one of those dream scopes, especially for planets from what I have been hearing.

Good luck.
