I wanted to try some fill flash and catch light experiments with my flash. Here's the results. All with Canon 10D, 300 f/2.8 lens and 2X teleconverter and 550EX flash.

Nice photo James! I've taken a number of images of trees myself and they are all old trees. They have a lot more character.

Nothing spectacular but he seemed to want his picture taken. He is about 125 yards and it was taken with the 300mm and 2X converter.

During a recent trip to Oregon we saw a lot of deer and I took a lot of photos. I liked the following two the best. Both were taken with a Canon 10D, 300mm f/2.8 and 2x converter with a 550EX speedlite flash.

Malheur NW Refuge birds

Although Malheur is noted for its waterfowl, the ongoing drought has dried up much of the area. Most of the waterfowl are restricted to Malheur Lake and inaccessible to would be photographer and birders.

We did find one hen Mallard.

All photos taken with Canon 10D, 300mm f/2.8 and 2x converter.

Another one taken this afternoon in the backyard. Probably an adult female. There was another slightly brighter colored towhee that would not come out and feed. Canon 10D, 300mm f/2.8, 2X converter and a 550EX flash.

Birding is as good as it gets here. Photography is difficult. I would call the light gray at best to dark gray to darker gray most of the time. It is very rainy so I don´t take my camera on the long walks, the ones where you see all the birds.

I don´t have access to a decent monitor so I can´t tell which photos are the best or if the brightness or contrast is right.

But, this will give you a sample of whats here.
