I know this will go against what a lot of people will say... but I use my Televue Clickstop Zoom eyepiece and hardly ever grab my other ones anymore. To my eyes, the difference in contrast for MY location isn't much different between my TV 12mm Radian, or the 12mm setting on the zoom. So now, I set up, grab one eyepiece, and sit down to relax. If I know I'll be doing deepsky stuff more, I grab my 32mm Meade SP. Also, in my SCT, the 8mm setting on the Zoom is as high as (useful) I can really go, and the 24 is a decent medium power. Not to burst your bubble, but probably the cheapest way is digital any more. With film, you need such a sturdy mount, precise alignment, guiders, reticles, film...etc. Digital, many people are basically using standard web cams or digital cameras (not dedicated CCD's) and stacking them with free stacking programs. With film, you could probably setup a cheap method, but it'd be very hard to get good results. Although, if you want to learn about film photography, there are some great books out there. Try Michael Covington's book or Robert Reed (I think that's his name...).

The 4500 has way more manual settings than the 4300. As for noise, any CCD w/o a Peltier cooler will produce a lot of it, but you can pretty good results by doing a dark subtraction in Paintshop/Photoshop..etc. As for balance issues, the 4500 is very light, shouldn't have aproblem. The nicest thing, is that when you have it connected to a scope, you can twist the other half to a comfortable position. I don't believe the 800 ISO setting would be of much use on a long exposure due to too much noise. You can look at ones like the Canon S30..etc, but the Nikon is a great camera.

As for the Fiesta Bowl, I definitely think many people are underestimating OSU. Their opponents have averaged over 35 pts a game and barely averaged 12 against OSU. Then again, Miami has been averaging 35 pts a game too. Both teams have been incredible on 4th quarter comebacks this year... so I think it'll be a "down to the wire" game...again. And I agree with you on the enough bowls...

Yes, that is one of the nice things about a SCT... just about everything will fit on them. And if it doesn't, there is an adaptor somewhere to make it fit. I believe I saw a banana firmly attached to a finderscope at one point...haha.
