Seeing was not as good as I thought it would be, but to be expected in Phoenix this time of year.

Jupiter 04/19 - 04/21

Posted By Paul Maxson

Wow...it seems like an eternity since I posted. I have been incredibly busy the past 2-3 days. Anyway, I have gotten images from the past 3 nights. Seeing was not great on the evenings of 4/19 and 4/21. It was better on 4/20.

I am making progress on the Processing exercise. I have about 15 submissions. I am hoping to post results this weekend.

Result page for the Wavelet/Processing exercise

Posted By Paul Maxson

I have learned so much about processing from all the submissions for this exercise. The best thing I learned is that the image I gave for everyone to work with really was a very good image, and my processing techniques needed help. I really want to thank everyone who has contributed. As far as I'm concerned, the exercise is not over, I'd love to see more contributions. The results page is here:

http://glory.gc.maricopa.edu/~pmaxson/jupiter/processing_a.htm

If you want to add your contribution, feel free to submit. Here is the weblink to that page.

If anyone feels this is a helpful page and wants to link to it, please do...heck, if anyone wants to host the pages...we can work that out too.

Enjoy, and comments welcome!

Jupiter in decent seeing. The image kept drifting in the FOV, but I think it was because I didn't clamp the altitude axis tightly on the C9.25. I'll find out tonight.

It was quite breezy last night and with high thin clouds, Jupiter's intensity was coming and going all night. However, I managed to get a bit of Ganymede's shadow and the GRS leaving the disk. Supposed to reach 100 degrees here today. Talk about not reaching temp equilibrium!!

Here is an image of Jupiter from last night, 04/26/04. Seeing was decent but there were a bunch of high clouds and it was quite warm out, probably 95 degrees.

I feel like I hit the motherload last night. This is probably one of the top 2-3 images I have made so far!! I'm tickled that Jupiter had his exciting face towards me last night. Today it is quite breezy and supposed to be windy. Glad I got Jupiter when I did!!
