Alan, I try to keep the gain as low as possible, which means I have the brightness set fairly high. Since Jupiter has so much detail and rotates so quickly, I set me frame rate no less than 25fps with exposure times of a little more than a minute. At 30fps, I can aqcuire about 2000 images to stack in just over a minute.
This image is the result of about 2013 images aligned and stacked. I just set Registax to about 77% quality and let the program rock and roll until finished and then process it right in Registax. with 2000 images stacked the S/N ratio allows me to push the processing envelope a bit further. I also start by setting the color to full auto until it stabilizes and then turn the auto color off to record.
I also reduced the size of the image by 50% as I feel it gives a better looking result.
