I've only been doing this for about a year. So everything is still pretty amazing to me.

Perhaps my best moment was my first glimpse at Omega Centauri thru the 4" refractor I had cobbled together. I just stumbled across this bright, big "thing", having no idea what I was looking at.

After that, I keep wondering, "Why are all the other clusters so small?"

And you, know, the funny thing is that I've never gone back to look at Omega Cen again, even though now I have a 10" dob.

One night I will.

I can see red quite distinctly in some stars, which seem to be part of the global clusters. I don't see any other color.

But I haven't been paying too much attention either. I'll have to give it a go.

I have the advantage of two cataract operations (both eyes) so the lenses are crystal clear.

Nice thread, I enjoyed reading the experiences of others.

However, I have no idea what CL is. Could you enlighten me?

Like Floyd said, your Mom is there and at some level no doctor can define she's there.

I remember a doctor once being amazed that a patient was able to communicate with his wife even though suffering from severe degradation of the brain because of a brain tumor. Scientifically, he would have said it was impossible. But it was happening.

You just never know. Or rather, we do know that people are still people, with heart and soul, with life and love, even when they're sick.

The news about the spread must be devastating. But I believe God has a reason for all that we suffer. I will pray especially today when I celebrate Mass that you may have the strength to smile for your wife and be strong.
