AR0662 group in high resolutiom

Incredible!! I was looking at the book "Sunspots" by Bray and Loughhead and there is a picture in there taken with a 12" scope suspended from a balloon that I always thought was as good an image I've seen. Your's is every bit as detailed, and with a 4" scope. Congratulations! That should be sent to S&T and Astronomy.

Shoemaker-Levy 9 and Jupiter...

Posted By Paul Maxson

I made a number of drawings for ALPO with an 8" F/6 Meade Newt reflector. I remember the impact spots being quite bright and very definite. I made probably 20-30 drawings and sent them all into ALPO. Dumb me, I didn't keep any copies or other records. Since I know David Levy, I had quite a ball recording the results of his comet.

Meade vs. Celestron 8" GPS

Posted By Paul Maxson

I like the Celestron, if for no other reason that it's handle design makes it much easier (and safer) for a person to carry. My C8 has given me many, many wonderful views of the planets.

celestron 9.25 gps

Posted By Paul Maxson

I own a 9.25" GPS and love it!! I use it primarily for planetary and lunar imaging. I moved from a C8 to the 9.25 and while the difference on paper isn't much, in the field I can sure tell. Here is my website with some images I have made. I got it a little too late for Mars but some Jupiter images turned out pretty nice.

http://glory.gc.maricopa.edu/~pmaxson/index.htm

My favorite eyepiece is a 17mm Radian (about $280). Best eyepiece I've ever owned. It gives about 135x on the 9.25" I also have a 2.5x and 5x Powermate barlow. This gives me up to 675x.

I found that the 9.25" is only a little more portable than the C11 and while I am very happy with my 9.25", if I wasn't so darn unlucky with C11's, I'd have one instead. Either way, you won't be unhappy until aperature fever strikes... wink

Hope that helps!!
