More HS from you.

We all know about Trump's bogus university and his relations with banks and contractors.

Harris's record as a Ca AG:

"One of Harris' signature achievements as attorney general was obtaining a $1.1 billion judgment against for-profit Corinthian Colleges for misleading students."

"She also secured an $18 billion settlement in 2012 from banks over foreclosure misconduct. California had initially been in line to receive around $4 billion as part of the multi-state litigation, but Harris said that was too little and threatened to walk away from negotiations."

As a US senator:

"During her time in the US Senate, Harris served on the Senate Judiciary Committee as well as the Select Committee on Intelligence before launching a bid for the White House in 2019."

The only thing Trump serves is himself.

Don't get much, do you? Lol...

The fact that you can't unpack something cobbled together on FACEBOOK as being as obviously cobbled together on facebook as this is and/or recognize facebook for being what it is, is crazy...

And the fact that she demanded and got 18 billion from the banks when they were offering 4 billion for their predatory foreclosure practices in California doesn't figure into for you, does it? You don't negotiate that kind of settlement by saying and doing stupid things...

Other choices like Nikki Haley would have enhanced Trump's chances of actually winning.  Especially in retrospect.  If Trump had picked Haley, he would have picked up a few moderate women, whom he really could use.  Politically speaking of course.  With Trump...  Oh, never mind.

I'm not sure Harris is the best candidate, but it is undeniable the Ds have rallied around her.   Wait for her to strategically pick one of the popular Governors of MI or PA as a running mate.  Her path to the oval office means winning MI, PA, and WI first and foremost.  Trump did nothing to strengthen his position with undecided voters in these states.   He may still win, and he is almost certainly ahead at this point in time.  But if he loses, his VP selection will look pretty bad in retrospect.   Hubris before the fall.

Gee, Thanks Ford For Dragging Down The Market Because Your QA Sucks!

"Ford keeps having to repair customers’ new cars and trucks. Its profit is plunging and its stock tumbled"

"The company (F) did not break out how much extra money it set aside to cover warranty expenses, but said “most” of the $1.2 billion drop in operating income in the quarter came from that increased expense."

Market Meltdown ; Harbinger Of A Recession?

Posted By Rod Kaufman

That's what the investors think as national and global markets tank.

And just in time to help put Trump back into the WH, who, btw, actually had a recession occur under his "leadership"....

This place is really quiet when they are no crazy antagonists running amuck. I do realize it's prime vacation season....

I just got back myself from a few great days in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, at least the eastern end. I also took my time coming back through the western Lower Peninsula starting about 30 miles east of the Mackinac Bridge on the north shore of Lake Huron, across the bridge then on to the famous Tunnel of Trees which starts in Cross Village It was early on Monday morning and had the whole narrow smooth asphalt roadway, mostly without a center line, all to myself for the first 19 of it's 30 miles or so. Saw eight cars before I reached the end in Petoskey. If you are ever in norther lower Michigan it's a must do drive. Here are some images and obviously most are taken in the fall, but anytime of year is awesome. Being summer some of the views of Lake Michigan below the bluffs were somewhat obscured by foliage.

https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=tunnel+of+trees+michigan+map&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

Then I drove around the Leelanau Peninsula (Michigan little finger of the Mitt) on M22 from Traverse City north along Grand Traverse Bay to Northport, then it becomes M22 south following the Lake Michigan shoreline through the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore and the sand dunes, past beautiful Crystal Lake, and then ended at the port town of Frankfort. I turned SW away from the coast to head back home, but still had 70 miles of two lane highways until I hit a freeway in Clare. What an awesome, but very long drive in my Miata with the top down the whole way. My wife would have hated it, she only put up with that car until we reached a destination. Go for a ride just because? No way.  I had a blast but was very tired when I got home.

I kept checking here to see if there was any discussion of any of the recent political news and have since even mentioned Trump's antics at the NABJ meeting and got nothing.

Anyways, as to the first part of my title I got most of this from Google:

For the plot structure of a good story (or an internet forum in our case) to come to life, it needs both a recognizable protagonist and antagonist with whom the audience can connect with. The interaction of these characters ‌creates both conflict and drama.

Without them, you have no climax or resolution (as if that'd ever happen here LOL), and the story( or forum) will be flat and uninteresting.

What is the Difference Between a Protagonist and Antagonist?

The protagonist of a story is the leading character, while the antagonist is their primary opponent. Both are nouns. Often (but not always, especially in our forum), the protagonist is the good guy or hero, while the antagonist is the villain who actively opposes the protagonist or is a hostile force. (Here it depends on who starts a thread and how divisive it it.

----------

I guess this is a roundabout way of saying where are our antagonist9s)? Jim Brown is much too polite to replace the one who really gets this place into a hubbub. Now I'm sure Davis (shit, I mentioned his name) will now come out of the woodwork and I'll be accused of secretly being in love with him.

Ick. Excuse me while I go wash my mouth out with soap for saying that.

Anyone know of a good brain disinfectant so I can get that thought out of my brain, too?

I once heard his idol Trump say "I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning? As you see, it gets in the lungs, it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that."

And: "So supposing we hit the body with a tremendous — whether it's ultraviolet or just a very powerful light — and I think you said that hasn't been checked because of the testing,"

"supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or some other way, and I think you said you're going to test that, too."

Yeah, maybe it'll work on just the brain by eliminating sick thoughts, too? LOL.

What do any of the Trump supporters that may still be here have to say about the above presidential quote after it's percolated in your minds for the last three and a half years? Your guy said it four years ago, do you think he's any more cognizant now that he was on that day? To any thinking person that quote should forever disqualify him to be anything but being a retired, privileged, old, rich, and stupid white guy who has gotten every break imaginable his whole life.

Anyways, wasted too much time with this. Back to yard work.
"I kept checking here to see if there was any discussion of any of the recent political news and have since even mentioned Trump's antics at the NABJ meeting and got nothing."

Er, ah, I posted the recent thread about the market tanking and recession fears, both of which, according to the media and various pundits, may very well propel Trump back into the WH and got zero replies. The rest of the nation seems to be talking about it so I thought there might be some interest here but...

That said, I observed from Mt Pinos on Tuesday night and despite it being an overcrowded zoo from the media hyping the two meteor showers this week plus the upcoming Perseids next week, the transparency was superlative and so much so that m33 was a naked eye object and m31 appeared as a naked eye galaxy and not just a grey patch in the sky. The milky way arched overhead from one horizon to the other and appeared like, an actual galaxy and not a moth eaten dust cloud.

Telescopically, the filaments of the veil were clearly etched in the 30mm eyepiece/0111 filter of my 16" reflector and the great wall in the north american nebula was something to behold.

Gorsuch Goes On Fox: "The Govt's Coming After You"

If you watched the video, you'd hear Gorsuch not only saying "the government is coming after you" which, of course, feeds the frenzy of the right wing extremists by adding credibility to their belief system, but also advancing the argument of "popularity" as a defining level of criteria for whether or not someone is treated justly by the courts. The main point I'm making here is that it should be the rule of law and not one's perceived grievances by the government, let alone one's stature, that determines the outcome of a trial or whether or not someone even goes to trial rather than a presumption of immunity...

Back to the right wing frenzy, Gorsuch is no anarchist, as he makes clear int he WSJ interview.  He like many many others, including you, I am sure, knows that the agencies can overreach, and it is an independent judiciaries job to protect businesses and individuals from agency overreach.

providing a bulwark against agency overreach and generalized MAGA distrust of the government are not the same things.
While I didn't get past the paywall, this clearly isn't about perceptions of government overreach despite his brief departures to them as his thinly veiled justifications for his outrageous comments. Not to mention that he and several others on the court are clearly biased against virtually any regulatory functions performed by the government even before they've heard the cases...
