M42 with 14

Roland,

Tough break having to light test that scope, but I guess someone has to do it. grin

Awesome image of M42. I'll bet it will be quite a performer on much fainter objects, although I'd love to see it "tested" on Omega Centarus. grin

Thanks for posting.

M-42 with Nikon D-100

Tyler,

Very impressive for a first try! I have a Sony Cybershot I was thinking of coupling to the C925 (I have a .63 reducer) and trying DSO...this gives me hope.

Thanks for posting.

Poll - LCD or CRT monitor

Posted By Paul Maxson

At home I use a 19" Viewsonic GS790 CRT. I love that monitor. Of course I have it matched with a very decent video card (Ati Radeon 9600). At work I use a Sceptre 15" LCD. Not particularily a good monitor, but not bad. Personally I prefer the CRT's but I think in a couple of years they will be in the minority.

Re: Saturn, Dec 21, 2004

Eric,

Thanks for the settings. I will try those next time I shoot Saturn with the 9.25". I'm not sure I'll get a brightness level of 180 on my setup, as I am wondering if my Toucam has lost some sensitivity over the past 18 months. But worth I will try. Also, I have a SAC4-II camera on order. It is supposed to be more sensitive than the toucam and designed for planets. I should get it in mid January and I'll definately post images when I get them.

Happy holidays to everyone as well (as I spend Friday and Saturday trying to help give about 100 orphan dogs and cats a happy day as well)....

Tyler,

Sweet!! Very sharp focus and nice processing. Did you use Reg 3 in defaults or change some of the settings?

Thanks for posting!

LPOD of the Year - 2004

Posted By Paul Maxson

Wes,

I absolutely agree. If that isn't the best amateur image of the year, it CERTAINLY is the best amateur lunar image of 2004, and probably all lunar images up to 2004! I am still stunned when I look at that one!

Happy New Year all!
