Economic fallout from Trump mass deportations could eclipse Great Recession: Report

2.  The government is not going to grind the economy to a halt on purpose.
3.  Therefore, there will be no "mass" deportations.

So my conclusion is that Trump is blowing smoke about mass deportations, and also that the press that breathlessly reports these stories is blowing smoke too, knowing full well from their contacts inside the government that there is no true desire and no effective means to implement mass deportations.  Makes for a good campaign promise and a good opposition story though!

I would not be surprised to see an effort to deport those who engage in criminal activity beyond sneaking in.  Also the rate of illegal immigration can be curbed a ton without impacting the economy.

Do you agree, or am I missing something?  Seriously.
While I'd like to think your assessment is correct, here's what is missing:

1. Tom Holman, Trump's "border czar":   "Homan, Trump’s former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, is expected to carry out what the president-elect has described as “the largest mass deportation operation in American history,” which his allies expect to expand to target potentially millions of people beyond the scope of undocumented immigrants who are accused of committing crimes."

2. "Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham announced the state will continue to offer up more land to them for mass deportation facilities, stating that her office is identifying property to be ready for when the new administration takes office in January."  “We have 13 million acres around the state, and if there’s something that meets the federal government’s needs, we want them to be able to utilize that..."   "...the General Land Office was "fully prepared" to enter an agreement with the federal government to allow a facility to be built there for the "processing, detention, and coordination of the largest deportation of violent criminals in the nation's history."

Economic fallout from Trump mass deportations could eclipse Great Recession: Report

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"Sourcing data from the Peterson Institute for International Economics, the report found that deporting 8.3 million immigrants in the country illegally would reduce GDP by 7.4 percent and reduce employment by 7 percent by 2028, likely resulting in zero overall growth throughout Trump’s second term."

"According to an American Immigration Council (AIC) estimate sourced by the JEC report, deporting at a clip of 1 million people per year — echoing a proposal by Vice President-elect JD Vance to “start with 1 million” — could generate a 4.2 percent to 6.8 percent loss in GDP. The U.S. economy shrank by 4.3 percent during the Great Recession, the report’s authors noted."

The Telescope-Price Fixing Settlement

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"A settlement has been proposed by the Indirect Purchaser Plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit against Synta Technology Corp. of Taiwan; Suzhou Synta Optical Technology Co. Ltd.; Nantong Schmidt Opto-Electrical Technology Co. Ltd; Synta Canada International Enterprises Ltd.; Pacific Telescope Corp.; Olivon Manufacturing Co. Ltd.; SW Technology Corporation; Celestron Acquisition, LLC; Olivon, USA LLC; Dar Tson (“David”) Shen; Joseph Lupica; Dave Anderson; Jean Shen; Sylvia Shen; Jack Chen; Laurence Huen; and Corey Lee (“Settling Defendants and Co-Conspirators”). The other, non-settling, defendants and co-conspirators are Ningbo Sunny Electronic Co. Ltd.; Sunny Optical Technology Co., Ltd.; Meade Instruments Corp.; Sunny Optics Inc.; Wenjun “Peter” Ni; and Wenjian Wang. The lawsuit claims defendants and co-conspirators (1) unlawfully divided the consumer telescopes market and fixed prices for consumer telescopes and (2) unlawfully attempted to monopolize and conspired to monopolize the consumer telescope market in the United States. The settlement resolves the Indirect Purchaser Plaintiffs claims against the Settling Defendants and Co-Conspirators only."

https://www.telescopesettlement.com/

My guess my question is that counsel(s) will challenge claims which may not stand-up to legal challenges based upon receipts, dates, vendors or whatever so that more of the 32 million settlement remains in the pot and that 1/3 chunk of the pie that the lawyers get is commensurately accommodated?...

Lol!   The market WANTS rate-cuts!!!  The market reacted the way it did, as noted in the link, because the Fed indicated it may only do two rate cuts next year instead of the anticipated four. The Fed may only do two because of their fear of greater inflation under Trump. Of course, leave it to the supporter of the Trump "JD" Putin-commie team not to understand it...

The fact is that you zero knowledge of what caused this market to slide on this one day.  It hasn't anything to do with Trump because the markets on the day after the election, went up more than any other single day after nation had an election than they had in over 120 YEARS, and that was when investors were giddy with excitement after investors realized that he was business friendly rather than business hating as all the Democrat politicians are.

And the market doesn't want rate cuts simply to have rate cuts.  Get a clue Nim-Rod commie tongue
The supporter of the Trump "JD" Putin-commie team is, of course, clueless yet again:

"Before Wednesday, traders were hoping the Fed would stay aggressive with rate cuts in 2025, fueling the bull market further."

We know you have reading comprehension issues but try re-reading the opening post several times before you finally get it...

Then I stated immediately, previously in my last posting:

In other words, as I stated, it has NOTHING to do with Donald Trump you fool.

And the Red Diaper communist (that would be You) stated in his original posting:

“Wall Street is waking up to the fact that a Trump presidency might not be as great for stocks as some people hoped,”

Therefore, I will reiterate for the stupid out there (that would be You wink), I have no reading comprehension issues as I read your words, since you implied from the beginning of this thread that stocks dropping was due to Trump's election. '

You might want to trade in that miniscule brain of yours, since she's a broke as any Italian could tell you.  smile
"Wall Street is waking up to the fact that a Trump presidency might not be as great for stocks as some people hoped,”

What the ---- does the supporter of the Trump "JD" Putin-commie team think that implies?!
It means the higher rate of inflation anticipated in the Trump administration due to his tariffs and mass deportations of corporate slave labor will give the Fed more reason not to lower interest rates hence the massive sell off inthe market. It only recovered somewhat yesterday because an indicator of inflation for THIS quarter came in a bit less than investors thought it might. That, and the fact that bottom feeders always come out the day or so after a big drop to buy some stock at a lower price contributed to a partial rebound on Friday.

We just witnessed some of the upcoming insanity of a MUMP administration coming next month when they nearly succeeded in shutting down the government of the United States of America. We're all sure you'd be all in for doing that...

The fact is that YOU claimed DB, that the cause of the stock market fall was due to Trump and then said I needed a reading comprehension because I didn't understand your presumptive initial posting, which I fully understood.

This was YOUR entire first original posting asswipe:

“Wall Street is waking up to the fact that a Trump presidency might not be as great for stocks as some people hoped,” said David Russell, global head of market strategy at TradeStation. “Financials and industrials jumped on his win but now may have to face higher rates and trade uncertainties, and healthcare faces its greatest political risks in recent memory.”

So in essence you were claiming as you continued to claim that the market drop was due to Trump getting elected.

I don't give a flying f*** what your psychotic interpretation of YOUR first original posting was supposed to mean.

I'm not clairvoyant into guessing what a mental midget like you gathered FROM YOUR first posting.

I saw that you blamed Trump and as I stated it isn't Trump's fault that the market dropped that day that you claimed it dropped, so Yes I did understand your original posting you jackwagon.

Believe anything you want commie.  I personally don't give 2 shits what goes through your psychotic head you f'in freak.  smile
“Financials and industrials jumped on his win but now may have to face higher rates and trade uncertainties,..."

That's the reason the article cited as to the drop on that day and the fact that “Wall Street is waking up to the fact that a Trump presidency might not be as great for stocks as some people hoped,..."

Only an obtuse moron like you would "interpret" it differently.

Concurrent with the theme of this thread, today's citation states, "What tariffs mean for car prices: ‘There's no such thing as a 100% American vehicle,' auto expert say."

"Component tariffs could add $600 to $2,500 per vehicle on parts from Mexico, Canada and China, according to estimates in a Wells Fargo analyst note. Prices on vehicles assembled in Mexico and Canada — which account for about 23% of vehicles sold in the U.S. — could rise $1,750 to $10,000."

"If tariffs are enacted, the sticker price drivers pay at the dealership will eventually go up, experts say."

https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/business/money-report/what-tariffs-could-mean-for-car-prices/3587711/

Only an obtuse moron would think that doesn't impact auto stocks and investors look at long term trends when deciding whether ot not to invest their money or pull it out of the market while they can still make a profit from it. Of course, I wouldn't expect the supporter of the Trump "JD" Putin-commie team, AKA the upcoming MUMP administration, to know anything about it...
