Dow Dumps On Strong "Blowout Jobs Report"

It always rallies after a huge selloff because the bottom feeders showup to buy stocks at a lowered price.

That said, Amazon just gave Melania Trump 40 miilion for her "documentary":

"Democratic strategist James Carville questioned the $40 million budget for Melania Trump’s documentary set to debut on Amazon Prime later this year."

“You can produce a world-class documentary for $2 million. I know it,” Carville said during a Thursday interview with Politicon.

“You couldn’t spend $40 million on a documentary if you tried 10 times harder to do it, so where’s the money going? Well, we know where the money is going,” he said. “And to [Jeff] Bezos, whose worth, I don’t know, $400 billion this is all chump change,” he continued, referring to Amazon’s executive chair."

“It’s breathtaking,” he added."

"Amazon recently donated $1 million to President-elect Trump’s inauguration, as did Meta, Google, Chevron and a host of other companies that may be seeking the incoming president’s good graces."

Investors are quite fickle my friend so it'll be interesting to see if that holds up if Trump announces tariffs on Mexico and Canada on day one of his administration, something no other president has done, and starts a trade war with both countries...

Dow Dumps On Strong "Blowout Jobs Report"

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"The selloff comes as the economy added 256,000 jobs in December, far outpacing expectations of around 153,000 jobs. While strong job growth signals a healthy economy, it raises the question of how soon the central bank needs to cut interest rates again."

"Additionally, President-elect Donald Trump’s proposed tariff policies, including reports of declaring a national economic emergency to impose widespread tariffs, has spooked investors, sending bond yields surging."

Fanaticism Not Seen Since WW2

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"The last written notes of a North Korean soldier have revealed how Pyongyang’s troops are being used as “bait” to lure out and shoot down Ukrainian drones."

"The diary of the dead man, published by Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces, described the reckless tactic along with expressions of love for Kim Jong-un and a “longing” to return to his homeland."

"Military observers and Ukrainian commanders have said that North Korean soldiers have not been trained in modern warfare and are being used as cannon fodder by their Russian allies."

"They are often sent out across open fields in large groups, without armoured vehicles or artillery back-up, to test Ukrainian defences, with smaller groups of Russian special forces following behind."

"The diary also hinted at the fanaticism and devotion to Kim Jong-Un, North Korea’s dictator, that was driving the conscripts."

“Even at the cost of my life, I will carry out the Supreme Commander’s orders without hesitation,” its author wrote."

Sounds like the fever and fanaticism found in the Trump cult...

Bannon: “I will have Elon Musk run out of here by Inauguration Day,”

"President-elect Trump’s former adviser Steve Bannon has vowed to “take down” tech billionaire Elon Musk, calling him “truly evil.”

1.  Delusional

2. Realistic

3. Optimistic

SCOTUS Does Something Right! I'll Have To Note The Date!

"Supreme Court rejects Utah’s bid to control federal lands"

"The court denied the state’s petition, writing in a brief statement: “The motion for leave to file a bill of complaint is denied.” It did not elaborate on its decision making."

"About 70 percent of Utah’s total land area is under federal control. When Utah became a state, under the “Utah Enabling Act,” it said it would not control the lands in question. It’s not the only state to do so, and the federal government owns about 47 percent of land in the West."

"Environmental advocates had opposed Utah’s effort, expressing concerns that ultimately some of the land could be sold off"

https://thehill.com/newsletters/energy-environment/5083230-supreme-court-rejects-utahs-bid-to-control-federal-lands/

That feeling of euphoria may be short lived, however, since, if memory serves, Trump said he intends to develop federal lands for housing tracts. But then again, Trump says a lot of stuff, doesn't he?...

They Knew Which Judge To Run To

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"A judge in Texas ruled Thursday that three other states can move ahead with their effort to roll back federal rules and make it harder for people across the U.S. to access the abortion drug mifepristone."

"The states of Idaho, Kansas and Missouri made the request in U.S. District Court in Amarillo, Texas. The only judge based there is Matthew Kacsmaryk, a nominee of former President Donald Trump who previously ruled in favor of a challenge to the pill’s approval."

"The American Civil Liberties Union said the case should have been settled when the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously preserved access to mifepristone."

"Kacsmaryk’s decision “has left the door open for extremist politicians to continue attacking medication abortion in his courtroom,” the ACLU said.

Reminds me of Josh Hawley's wife running down to a court in Texas to get an anti-abortion ruling...

CNN found liable of defamation of Navy Vet. Ordered to pay him $5 Million in damages and punitive damages yet to be determined.

"In another case, Fox News agreed to pay Dominion Voting Systems $787 million on the day the trial was due to start in 2023 to settle the company’s claims of inaccurate reporting in the wake of the 2020 presidential election."   smile

"CNN said it would have no comment on the verdict until after the punitive damages part of the trial is concluded."

"At a trial located in a conservative part of the country, Young's lawyers urged jurors to send a message to the media. Questions submitted by jurors during the trial telegraphed some hostility, with one wondering whether CNN had treated the plaintiff as guilty until proven innocent."

Can't happen, CNN settled with the guy for an undisclosed amount that negates other punitive damages:

I guess they decided to cut their losses than to deal with the outcome of the same conservative and reportedly hostile jury that decided the cases in the first place.
