All it proves is you're still the punk you've always been. wink

Tell me DB, when did you see combat?  When were you awarded 2 Bronze Stars for your military action?

And your laughable comment about the Navajos coming from you, who never gave a damn about any group of people, unless you could USE them for political purposes. gave me a chuckle.  smile

That's you, MAGA, and Donald Trump to a tee...

And as for Pete, the Fox news game show host, whom Donald wouldn't have known, let alone appointed, unless he had seen him on his game show, you can read the commentary from his ex-wives, his payout for his interlude in some hotel room, and the veterans group that he helped run into the ground...

Geez: Trump's Goofy "Emergency" Tariffs On Columbia

Posted By Rod Kaufman

In response to his 25% tariffs, Columbia, our third largest trading partner in Latin America, responds in kind:

"Trump said he would also direct enhanced border inspections of Colombian nationals and cargo."

"These measures are just the beginning," he wrote. "We will not allow the Colombian Government to violate its legal obligations with regard to the acceptance and return of the Criminals they forced into the United States!"
He later posted a picture of himself on Truth Social in a pinstripe suit and a fedora in front of a sign reading FAFO, a common slang acronym for "Fuck Around and Find Out".

Jan. 6 Rioter Pardoned by Trump Shot, Killed By Sheriff’s Deputy

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"Jan. 6 defendant pardoned by Trump wanted on older solicitation charges in Texas"

"The Harris County District Attorney’s Office said Andrew Taake, 36, who was pardoned by Trump last week, is wanted over alleged online solicitation of a minor in 2016."

“Re-arresting individuals, like Taake, who were released with pending State warrants, will require significant resources,” Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare said in a statement. “Know that we are already in the process of tracking Taake down, as he must answer for [the] 2016 charge of soliciting a minor online.”

"Taake is accused of pursuing a sexual relationship with a person he knew to be under the age of 17 while using an online messaging platform."

Jan. 6 Rioter Pardoned by Trump Shot, Killed By Sheriff’s Deputy

" An Indiana man pardoned last week by President Trump for storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, is dead after being shot by a sheriff’s deputy while allegedly resisting arrest."

"According to state police, Huttle was in possession of a firearm during the traffic stop."

"Matthew Huttle and his uncle, Dale Huttle, were arrested for taking part in the Capitol riots on Jan. 6. Matthew Huttle ended up being tracked down and arrested in Boise, Idaho. The FBI said he was inside the Capitol for roughly 10 minutes but remained on the Capitol grounds for several hours."

“I have no regrets. I will not say I’m sorry,” Dale Huttle said about him and his nephew, Matthew, taking part in the attack."

Republicans Warn Against Kash Patel FBI Confirmation: 'Grievous Mistake'

Posted By Rod Kaufman

" ...the prospective FBI director has frequently lauded QAnon believers and embraced their messaging. The unfounded, pro-Trump conspiracy theory holds that the United States is run by a cabal of Satan-worshipping pedophiles, and that Trump is a messianic figure who will eradicate this evil from the government."

"Media Matters Senior Researcher Alex Kaplan identified social media posts by Patel in which he uses QAnon imagery, and bragged about his supposed meetings with “@Q,” a Truth Social account created shortly after the platform’s launch that has suspected links to Truth Social’s developers. In 2022, Patel even signed copies of his pro-Trump children’s book The Plot Against The King 2,000 Mules, with the phrase “WWG1WGA,” a QAnon slogan meaning “where we go one, we go all.”

Republicans Warn Against Kash Patel FBI Confirmation: 'Grievous Mistake'

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"Senate Republicans are under growing pressure from prominent former Republican officials to reject President Trump’s pick to head the FBI, Kash Patel, setting the stage for another bruising confirmation later this week."

"Patel has drawn strong opposition from former Republican national security and law enforcement leaders, such as former Trump national security adviser John Bolton, former Trump Attorney General William Barr and former Trump Defense Secretary Mike Esper, who have questioned Patel’s fitness for the job."

"Bolton compared Patel to a “climbing weed” who “doesn’t show respect for the limits” and called new allegations that Patel broke protocol during a hostage rescue operation “stunning.”

"Barr recalled in his memoir that he adamantly opposed a push to promote Patel to serve as deputy FBI director during Trump’s first term and told then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows it would happen “over my dead body.”

"Esper, who headed the Pentagon from 2019-20, said Patel almost compromised a special forces operation to rescue an American hostage in West Africa by leading his superiors to falsely believe American forces had airspace clearance to conduct the operation."

"Days ahead of Patel’s hearing, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), the Judiciary Committee’s ranking member, has revealed he has received “highly credible information” that Patel “broke protocol” by publicly commenting without authorization about a retrieval mission for two Americans held captive in Yemen while it was in progress."

"Durbin’s office said The Wall Street Journal published comments from Patel about a hostage swap several hours before the hostages were confirmed to be in U.S. custody."

"We are former law enforcement officials who served in Republican administrations, Republican members of Congress, and other policymakers who are committed to the rule of law," they wrote in a letter to senators obtained by Newsweek. The Hill first reported its contents."

"We write to express our deep concerns about Kash Patel's nomination to serve as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Confirming Patel would be a grievous mistake that would endanger the FBI's integrity and compromise its critical mission."

"The letter says Patel lacks the experience and temperament to lead the FBI and is "motivated by revenge."

Here Come The Tariffs

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"Canada’s tariff list targets Republican states, Trump allies"

"The list includes oranges and fruit from Florida, home to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort; household appliances from South Carolina and Ohio, states to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Vice President J.D. Vance; and motorcycles and coffee from southern Pennsylvania, which helped return Trump to the White House."

"The full list, which you can read here, contains food and agriculture products, textiles and furniture."

"Energy and tech products were not included in the first round of tariffs. A second list will be published in the coming days."

Obviously, Trump did not get a complete epic win, like he would typically claim, and the presidents of Mexico in Canada can claim they were successful too. I’m OK with that. So, the cartoon David posted immediately above is funny, but of course inaccurate/oversimplified. Also, I would argue that the stock markets are no more roiled than is typical.

I have not yet studied the Panama deal, but it looks like Rubio/Trump were able to make some progress disentangling Panama from Chinese influence. That is good, wouldn’t you agree?  J
I'd argue the main thing that Trump turned around on was his acceptance of the cosmetic border crackdown on the drug trade (most of which comes through legal points of entry and not over the desert and certainly not much from Canada) was the fact that he saw the Dow dumping about 600 points and that got him on the phone pronto because that's the only economic barometer he looks at.

More migrants travel TO Canada from the USA and not vice versa, and again, Trump's main argument has been curbing the drug trade with Mexico and Canada with the latter constituting a pittance of that coming though southern points of entry and China.
