Trump Officials Fired Nuclear Staff Not Realizing What They Do

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"The agency made the about face Friday morning; during a meeting, acting NNSA administrator Teresa Robbins said the agency had received direction to rescind the termination of probationary employees."

“Congress is freaking out because it appears DOE didn’t really realize NNSA oversees the nuclear stockpile,” one source said. “The nuclear deterrent is the backbone of American security and stability – period. For there to be any even very small holes poked even in the maintenance of that deterrent should be extremely frightening to people.”

"Robbins added on Friday that if probationary NNSA employees had not yet been fired, their jobs were now safe and all NNSA employees whose access to the agency’s network and internal IT systems was shut off would be turned back on"

DOGE Website Posts Classified Information

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"Elon Musk much-touted new website for the Department of Government Efficiency posted classified government information, setting off alarm bells in the intelligence community."

"Although a note at the bottom of the site says that its workforce data exclude information about certain agencies—military and intelligence organizations, for instance—HuffPost reported that classified employment data is, in fact, visible."

“DOGE just posted secret NOFURN [not releasable to foreign nationals] info on their website about [intelligence community] headcount, so currently people are scrambling to check if their info has been accessed,” an unnamed Defense Intelligence Agency official told HuffPost."

“These 25-year-old programmers, I don’t think they have enough experience to know what they don’t know,” one aide said. “Really, the question is: Where did this get this information, and what are they doing with it?”

"Earlier on Friday, hackers accessed the site and posted prank messages that read: “This is a joke of a .gov site” and “THESE ‘EXPERTS’ LEFT THEIR DATABASE OPEN -roro.”

Social Security head steps down over DOGE access of recipient information

Posted By Rod Kaufman

" The Social Security Administration ‘s acting commissioner has stepped down from her role at the agency over Department of Government Efficiency requests to access Social Security recipient information, according to two people familiar with the official’s departure who were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly."

"Acting Commissioner Michelle King’s departure from the agency over the weekend — after more than 30 years of service — was initiated after King refused to provide DOGE staffers at the SSA with access to sensitive information, the people said Monday."

Musk Going For The Gold At Ft Knox!

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"Tech billionaire Elon Musk signaled Monday that he will be looking into Fort Knox, where the United States has a massive and heavily secured gold reserve."

“Looking for the gold at Fort Knox …” Musk wrote on the social platform X.

"He also shared a post from Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) on X, in which the senator said he has been denied access to Fort Knox, an Army installation in Kentucky."

"Fort Knox has a strict no visitors policy,"

“Who is confirming that gold wasn’t stolen from Fort Knox? Maybe it’s there, maybe it’s not. That gold is owned by the American public! We want to know if it’s still there,” Musk said.

Kinda reminds me of the conservative lunatics who stormed into hospitals in Utah during covid looking to see if patients were actually on ventilators, "Maybe they're there, maybe they're not"...

“Until now, as far as we are aware,” Harris wrote, “no court in American history has wielded an injunction to force the President to retain an agency head whom the President believes should not be entrusted with executive power and to prevent the President from relying on his preferred replacement.”

The executive branch has for nearly five decades, Harris noted, believed that the restrictions on the president’s ability to remove the special counsel violate the Constitution, because the power to make decisions about investigations and prosecutions falls squarely within the president’s power as the head of the executive branch.

As a general rule, Harris continued, the president can remove senior officials whenever he wants. Indeed, in two recent cases, Harris added, the Supreme Court has held that restrictions on the president’s power to remove the solo heads of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Housing Finance Agency violate the Constitution. Based on those decisions, she observed, Biden in 2021 removed the head of the Social Security Administration."

Well, first of all, my point here is that the conservatives on the court routinely state they will not consider the merits of a case unless it suits their belief system.

The case from the appeals court has been decided there on procedural grounds and not on the merits of the issue as stated in your reply. So, when I note it'll be interesting to see what the cons will do with this, my take continues to be they will tow the line of the Trump administration and decide the issue on its merits and not on procedural grounds as they should and in other cases would do.

My personal take on the merits as stated is that the law regarding removal of the department head in question violates his due process as established by law. In other words, while the president may have the authority to order his removal, he is still obligated to follow the procedures for doing so, which, clearly, in this case, he did not.

Not yet but after this legal-delay nonsense from SCOTUS is over, I expect 'em to do whatever he wants. They're just playing us for now, trying to show their supposed impartiality, while they know they'll decide in Trump's favor later.

I don't see the separation of powers actions in the same manner as you do with regards to due process. IMO, the president fire can fire 'em but only after following due process in doing so. Unfortunately, with SCOTUS, it will be one or the other and we know which one it will be...

I guess I thought the process the congress dedicated was tantamount to "due process" but, from what you've stated, that appears not to be the case.

Anyhow, Gorsuch and Alito are on record as supporting Trump on this and although I didn't hear anything yet about Thomas, perhaps because he's off on a luxury yacht trip somewhere, it's a given he'll back Trump, too.

That said, I expect the cons to overwhelmingly back Trump while simultaneously maintaining its the job of the congress to insure the process is followed as intended by the legislative branch and, of course, there's a snowball's chance in hell of that happening...

SCOTUS/Roberts accedes to Trump on another one:

"Chief Justice John Roberts temporarily delayed a midnight deadline for the Trump administration to unfreeze nearly $2 billion in foreign aid payments, imposed by a lower judge who found the administration had flouted his ruling."

"His pause lasts until the court decides whether to wipe Ali’s ruling, which Roberts could decide himself or refer to full court for a vote."

"Roberts ordered the plaintiffs to respond in court filings by mid-day Friday."

"But for now, Roberts’s decision means the administration does not have to release the funding by midnight, handing Trump a temporary win in his broader effort to dismantle USAID."

"However, it leaves the USAID contractors and nonprofits who sued in limbo."

Those contractors are owed a ton and it looks like Trump is going to get away with stiffing them just like he did with the contractors working on his buildings...
