"The Damage Is Done"

Whaddya mean, people are waking up here?

"Most in new poll now view Trump unfavorably"

"A poll has found President Trump’s approval is sliding as his second term ramps up with new global trade policies."

"Just more than half — 51 percent — of Americans surveyed in the Economist/YouGov poll said they disapprove of Trump’s job performance, while 43 percent said they approve, giving him a net approval of negative 8 points."

"The same poll conducted two weeks earlier found opinions of Trump were near evenly split — 48 percent were favorable, and 49 percent were unfavorable."

Do you think this has anything to do with it?

"Consumer sentiment plunged 11% this month to a preliminary reading of 50.8, the University of Michigan said in its latest survey released Friday, the second-lowest reading on records going back to 1952. April's reading was lower than anything seen during the Great Recession."
CNN

How's that for a bangup job on the economy?...

1st of all, it was a 20% drop, that lasted for 8 solid months because of Biden's policies and because he caused the rampant inflation which was due to his massive irresponsible spending, regardless of your pathetic excuses for his irresponsible reckless spending and leadership.

Secondly, to address your other massively STUPID remark that I placed in Bold, you stated this bit of moronic stupidity:

we already know the market drop during the initial phase of the Biden years was due to te Covid pandemic

Well I put forth the facts of the market drop from January of 2022 until September of 2022, which began in Jan 2022, a full YEAR later after Biden took the helm on Jan 2021.  I realize you can barely add 3 and 5 and come up with the correct answer, but that isn't an excuse for your moronic statement above.

Covid was already around during the last year of Trump's Presidency, and the market dropped massively BEFORE Biden even was inaugurated.  Then it started back upwards and when the marker players realized that Biden was causing MASSIVE inflation with his reckless spending, then the market dropped all through Biden's 2ND YEAR, and as I said, it dropped 20%.

So then according to the dumbest communist on A-Mart, anytime the market dropped during the Biden reign of terror, it was due to COVID?  Is that how it works in the mind of the dumbest communist on A-Mart?

How convenient for you.  Whatever the issue and whatever horrid policies that Biden instilled, it was only because of COVID.

So I guess when DURING the Biden administration's pathetic NON-leadership, I guess the reason for the RECORD setting gas prices that we had to live through during Biden was because of COVID as well?

So I guess when Biden caused inflation that had never been seen in 45 YEARS, it was because of COVID, according to the dumbest communist on Astromart?

You truly are dumber and more economically illiterate than a jelly doughnut.  shocked
OMG AI GOT IT WRONG?! Hmm, I don't think so, RICH DAVIS, supporter of the Trump "JD" Putin-commie team:

The market drop under the Biden administration, specifically the sell-off in 2022, was driven by a combination of factors, including rising interest rates, the war in Ukraine, and concerns about inflation. These factors, largely outside of the administration's control, led to a decrease in the S& 500 and other market indices.

Elaboration:

Interest Rate Hikes:
The Federal Reserve, aiming to curb inflation, implemented a series of interest rate hikes, which made borrowing more expensive and negatively impacted companies with high debt.

War in Ukraine:
The conflict disrupted global supply chains, particularly for energy and food, contributing to inflation and market volatility.
Inflation Fears:
Concerns about rising inflation, fueled by supply chain disruptions and increased demand, led investors to sell stocks and seek safer investments like government bonds.

Geopolitical Uncertainty:
The escalating trade war between the US and China, along with other geopolitical tensions, added to investor uncertainty and risk aversion.

Supply Chain Disruptions:
The ongoing supply chain issues, exacerbated by the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, continued to create headwinds for businesses and contributed to inflation concerns.

Hmm,  sounds right to me and every other credible source I've seen...

Speaking of BS:

"Trump in good health, doc says, citing 'frequent victories' at golf"

"At 6 feet 3 inches and 224 pounds, Trump is overweight, according to the Body Mass Index. Trump golfs frequently, but famously eats a fast food-heavy diet. During his first term in office, the White House physician recommended he try to eat fewer carbohydrates and fat − and exercise more."

First, he takes a golf cart to wherever he goes while playing and as far as his supposed "frequent victories" is concerned, well, you can use your own imagination on that one.

Second, take a look at that picture of him on the golf course, it pretty much says it all...

" The reality remains stark: Economists said the economic damage is done, and many predict a US and global recession. Stocks are still well below where they were before Trump unveiled his “Liberation Day” tariffs last week, and those large stock market losses, existing tariffs and high degree of uncertainty about American trade policy are enough to sink the economy"

The Real Effects of the Tariffs Per US Manufacturers

"Trump tariffs won't lead supply chains back to U.S. but companies will go low-tariff globe-hopping: CNBC survey"

"Most companies say high costs will keep them from moving manufacturing back to the U.S., according to a new CNBC Supply Chain survey, and if they do, 81% expect automation to be favored over workers."

"Nearly half say reshoring would double costs and President Trump's trade war is more likely to kick off a new global search for low-tariff regimes."

"In the near-term, 61% of survey respondents said price hikes are coming and they expect consumer demand will decline, with recession the base case for 63% of respondents."

"In addition to the tariffs, consumer demand and raw material prices, as well as the "current administration's inability to provide a consistent strategy," were cited as key supply chain concerns."

A great question.....

Well, ya see, according to Trump world, SCOTUS said "facilitate" and not "effectuate" so there's no action intent needed on their part. That, apparently, works for the cons on SCOTUS, too...

Can You tell us why the Democrat party and those communists like yourself support criminal illegal aliens being permitted to stay in this nation, those who are rapists, murderers, child rapists and the like?

Sad that we have psychos like yourself in the US.  Thankfully the other freak is in Canada.
Obviously you're as misinformed as usual since the guy were talking about was admittedly wrongly deported by the Trump administration--even they understand that--  but they still won't lift a finger to correct their own mistake.

The administration is at least in part casting this as an (A)-type foreign policy/immigration issue.  That is disingenuous, in my opinion.  I think this is a (B)-type issue where the administration screwed up and violated a previous "do not deport to El Salvador" order.   So I think the District Court has full authority to force the Executive to take all reasonable steps to facilitate Abrego Garcia's return, followed by proper procedures with due process if they intend to deport him to anywhere.  That said, sometimes the government's mistakes can not be fully remedied.   Ask anyone who was incarcerated or executed for a crime they did not commit.

Here the battle lines are going to be, "what reasonable steps can/have the administration taken to get Abrego Garcia back."  The answer to this question is certainly not "nothing."  So, this is not over yet, not by a long shot.
Hi Jim,

I'm wondering what your take is on the following article and if it changes your perspective on the issue:

So, it seems to me after reading your post that SCOTUS, after deciding 9 to 0 that the Trump administration needs to "facilitate" the return of the deportee in question, will now consider what the lower court considers facilitating his release by the Trump administration. Is that right?
