Question..... Help!!

Posted By Paul Maxson

Tyler,

Which version of Registax are you using? I seem to remember that Cor said that version 3 will handle either 4000 or 5000 frames. I've done as many as 2400 with version 2 in the past I think.

Also, you could ask in the Registax and K3CCD Yahoo groups as well, both groups are quite active and Cor and Peter spend a lot of time in each helping....

Hello all. I am having some trouble with the processing of my large AVI files. It seems that I can only handle 2319 frames before something chokes. K3CCDTools will at least continue with the processing, but without including any frames after that number. Registax runs up to that point, and then just gives me an error message that say it failed to expand the frame.... and it stops running. I can't even use Registax for my larger AVI's. The recent Saturn image that I posted was from an AVI with well over 3000 frames, but I could only use 2319 of them. I assume that this problem may be linked to a memory issue, but I can't figure out what to do. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone out there have a solution? I would appreciate any help.
Cheers,
Tyler

JUPITER.... early catch!

Ivan,

Very nice image!! Jupiter has been tough so far this year, but I know it will get better for all.

My best Saturn yet

Maybe he could decrease the contrast in Registax. I find to get planet detail I usually have to set the contrast level to 75-80%. It certainly IS a wonderful image, something my C925 isn't even coming close to!! grin

Very nice detail! It's either weak color or b&w? Anyway, sometimes they look better that way.

Any idea what Celestron's "big news"

Posted By Paul Maxson

I think it would be a kick to see a C14 GPS....**chuckle**. But seriously, anything they will be offering likely will be like Meade's "bombshell" and be too expensive for me to afford... grin

for Friday will be?

Do you suppose that they will match Meade's RC announcement? Maybe offer scaled down astrographs based on the C20 design?

Let's hope it's interesting!

Saturn w/SV-102

John,

Very nice!! I'm glad to see someone else imaging Saturn with a 100mm apo refractor. I am using an ED100 and your images are a hair sharper. Your's show quite a bit of detail and similar to mine...just goes to show that aperature isn't everything...almost, but not quite. grin

I've been not so lucky with the weather for quite some time now. Dec 26 was the last time i was able to image Saturn. Its a 443 frame from 2000 stack in Registax 3. Taken with a ToUcam in my 4" apo with stacked 2x barlow and 2.5x powermate. The left side is full size and the right side is 2x size. In the 2x images you can see a little of the Crepe ring. (at least i think thats the Crepe ring) Images were processed a little more in PaintShop and Neat Image. Seeing IIRC that night was not good. Maybe 2-3 out of 5.

Thanks for looking.

How to clean my ToUCam?

Posted By Paul Maxson

Ivan,

Here is a link to a fellow who has outlined his technique. I have used it with my Toucam successfully a number of times. Click on hints and Tips and look for CCD Cleaning.

Hi all, I have a small dust particle on the chip of my ToUCam that will not come out with blowing. Looks like I will have to be more drastic. What is the correct way of cleaning it?

Thanks,
Ivan

Jupiter with my ED100

Posted By Paul Maxson

Eric,

Yeah, I am really befuddled by the 9.25. I had it back to Celestron and while images are somewhat better, they still aren't nearly up to the C925 reputation. I'm not sure if it is the scope (that is my suspicion) or local seeing. I did some side by side comparisons with the 9.25 and ED100 on Saturn a few days ago. I've included the link so you can see what I mean. I have checked collimation with the webcam (I never use a diagonal for imaging) and the Polaris star images are very close to round both in and out of focus...Bob's Knobs are great!! Anyway, I am going to get a couple of buddies who are known sharp-eyed observers to come over with their C11's and help me do more side by side comparisons. If it is the scope, I'll buy another scope...if it's the local seeing, well that's another issue... smile

A very nice result, Paul! Didn't know your 9.25 had problems- what's wrong?

Jim,

Very nice!! At least you had clear skies...mine are dark and dreary with H2O flowing out of them....**chuckle**. No break until Sunday I think.

Russell,

VERY nice!! That's what I think a C925 should perform like. I can even see the monogramed "L" in the crater.
