Agreed on all of the above. I would like to add however that the newer style has a recessed lens which I don`t like because it prohibits eyeglass wearers from seeing the whole field of view. The older style, which I have, does not not have this and I will never sell it.

Try blowing a high powered house fan on high down the tube for a while. This should really eliminate any temperature gradients. If the problen is still there, that's not the problem.

Yes but it took a lot longer to get it than Chad said it would take. Also the hole was much larger than the advertised size whatever it was. To get it smaller if you want to star test the scope with well defined airy disks, you need to tape a small 4mm eyepiece or something like that in front of the hole and it works great. If you just want to collimate, that won't be necessary.
