Hey Alex,

I did just that several years ago. It was a pipe and plate I welded together and cemented the base into the ground 24.0".

It didn't last long! Somebody found it, saw they couldn't remove it easily, so they shot it several times with a rifle and ran over it with a vehicle!

I realised it was a magnet for knotheads and obviously didn't waste time making another one.

Hi Terry,

That is normal. The clamp must engage. It works 'downward' as gravity reduces the need for grip of the clamp.

LX-10

Hi Dale,

The LX10 is an R/A drive with optional dec. motor. The scope is an 8" f10 @ 2000mm f/l. I don't think they made them in larger apertures.

It can be driven with the ac cord or by battery with an inverter. It's a synchronous motor and will not work with 'chipped' paddles.

They are usually excellent optically and mechanically.

upgrade lx200 non gps to gps

Hi James,

I wouldn't add GPS. It sounds good to people today, but it is much slower, adds no accuracy and isn't easier for new people. It was added by the manufacturers because it sells more scopes. They lie when advertising simplicity and accuracy.

I continue to work on both models from both SCT manufacturers for people locally and I dread the day there are no parts for my non-GPS scope.

You are well on your way to the incurable disease many of us have had to deal with, not to mention the family's pain and suffering.

You will know it's terminal when you realize you've been pealing tiny wood chips from you scope and aluminum chips from your Naglers and sprinkling them on you salad for the evening meal. cwy
