Here is something I did with a Celestron CG-5. It might give you ideas. I used birch plywood and a maple wing nut. The wing nut attached itself to a threaded brass rod with a T-nut. It worked VERY well.

I purchased a Baader Hyperion at NEAF this past weekend and am eagerly waiting to try it. When speaking with Adirondack astronomy, they said the 3.5mm hasn't really been moving so he might be running a special on it. If this is the focal length your looking for, I would keep my eye on their web site to see if you could pick one up at a discount.

What scope would you be using with it?

Meade UWA 6.7 and 8.8 questions

I to have the 4k 14mm UWA which I use a f/4.5 it is surprisingly sharp towards the edge of the field. So to say the least, it is definitely a keeper. If I had to change one thing, it would be to paint some of the silver barrel with in the inside of the skirt. It seems to have slight internal reflection because of it. Mike Hossa (sp?) did this to his and said it darkened up the background of the star fields.

Pick a date and clean your mirror once a year regardless of how much dust forms. Coatings do scratch when you "swab" cotton across it, no matter how careful you are. Make sure you THOURALY clean the larger particles off the mirror before you touch it with cotton. I've even seen David Krige from Obsession use a garden hose to initially remove the dust. Talking about the cotton.....Don't "swab" it. You just want to drag the cotton across the mirror letting only the weight of the cotton clean your mirror. Every stroke rotating the cotton to reduce scratching the coatings. Don't spare the cotton and sterile cotton is the only way to go. I was reading the post you left about tips on cleaning your mirror. You want to use only about a drop or two of Dawn dish washing detergent for every gallon of water. The purpose of the detergent is mainly for a sheeting action for water removal. It dosn't seem like much, but it's plenty. I would recommend getting yourself an absorbent microfiber cloth (preferably white), using the corner to dab up any left over drips of water.

Ask plenty of questions they don't cost much!!!
