Here's a combined image of 2 30 minute exposures taken early this morning, one focusing more on the N.A. nebula and the other more on the Pelican. Images were registered and combined in Registar. color balance, levels, and curves applied in Photoshop 7.0.

M13 with D60

I am throughly impressed with your images. I have that same wide field image of M13 caught using a 600mm f/5 refractor on film. Bottom line, my image is doo-doo compared to yours. Keep this up and you'll make SBIG nervous! *L*

Hi Taylor,
Well, right now the only good films sensitive enough in the red are both slide films. Kodaks E200 or Fuji Provia 400. Both respond well to push processing. The last good 35mm film (Supra 400) was discontinued earlier this year.

What a fantastic image! I made some adjustments like noise reduction and color balance (both very minor) and must say that this ranks right up there with some of the best I have seen. That Starlight Express camera is really good.

There is some encouraging news. Kodak Max 800 has just been tested and the limited results look positive for deep sky photography..

What order to do processing steps?

John,
You should always stack the raw images first to pick up the most detail. If you process before, you may actually remove some valuable data that is hard to see in the individule image.

nice! There is a hint of blue or light purple in this shot that I have not seen in others. Is this really there or is it an artifact from the camera? Either way, it looks great. You are doing some fantastic work! Keep em' comming...
