There have recently been several high-level leaks from the White House that are not flattering. A recent leak regarding the Iran conflict suggests that President Trump's decision to consider military action against Iran was primarily influenced by his personal gut instinct and a desire to settle a score with the Iranians, since they had plans to kill him, rather than a strategic or national security goal. The leaks indicate the decision was also heavily influenced by presentations from Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, which described regime change as achievable. However, Trump's intelligence officials reportedly called the goal "farcical." Trump even ignored warnings from Gen. Dan Caine, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff whom he had appointed, that Iran could close the Strait of Hormuz indefinitely through asymmetric warfare. The stable genius indeed.
