I read an article in S&T a ways back about imaging the moon in high sun, while certain types of detail is not seen, often other types can be seen that can't at low angles. This image is proof. Very impressive image Wes!!

Bossingault, multiple crater!

Posted By Paul Maxson

Mike,

Excellent!! I found that crater for the first time last lunation and already it's becoming one of my favorites!!! grin grin

In fact I got what I think to be an even better image than I submitted to LPOD just a few days ago. Maybe we should flood Chuck with this crater...LOL!!

Here is my latest Boussingault shot on April 14.

Nice to see it from a larger scope.

Hi All

I had some good seeing last night and with a good sun angle coupled with my most excellent Stellarvue SV102, it let me push the envelope of the scopes performance at f/35ish using a 2x barlowed 2.5x powermate and an ATIK-2HS w/green dichroic filter. Imaging craterlets in Plato has been a goal of mine since i got this scope last October. I finally got the seeing i needed to do it. The image is about 100 frames stacked using Gassian wavelets tranform in Registax 3.

Thanks for looking

Saturn (farewell) with moons

Posted By Paul Maxson

Alan,

Beautiful image!! I am in the last few days of my Saturn imaging as well. I still remember those days a few weeks ago when I could get a crisp, clean image fairly often. Ah well, Saturn will be back. smile
