Bush is taking "Political Science" to new levels.

One more draconian policy from the Bush administration. Now it seems like Bush wants to pick scientists that don't think the melting of the polar ice caps indicates global warming, and that mercury laced fish aren't caused by coal burning power plant emissions.

U.S. Quietly Sneaks Once-Looted Uranium Out of Iraq

The Tuwaitha nuclear complex was dismantled in the early 1990s after the first Gulf War. But tons of nuclear materials remained there, under the seal of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency, until the second Gulf War, when it was left unguarded by the U.S.-led invading forces and looted by Iraqi civilians.

In June 2003, after repeated IAEA warnings that the looted materials could be used to make weapons, an embarrassed United States allowed an IAEA team to return to the site to try to gather them up.

The main reason for this war was to keep WMD's (like nuclear materials) out of the hands of terrorists. It looks like it is only blind luck if some of these materials did not make it into terrorist arsenals.

The effort to defy Bush and bridle the law's powers lost by 210-210, with a majority needed to prevail. The amendment appeared on its way to victory as the roll call's normal 15-minute time limit expired, but GOP leaders kept the vote open for 23 more minutes as they persuaded about 10 Republicans who initially supported the provision to change their votes.

I wounder how much pork was promised to win this STUNNING 210-210 victory in a Republican House?

It means that the Arab extremists do not realize that Kerry will form a strong, credible world wide coalition to fight terrorism. That credibility will make it possible to enlist the help of moderate Arabs to target the extremists where they live.

Bush's previous diplomatic blunders destroyed his international credibility and he gets almost no help.

Mad Bush Disease

1. It looks like business "wins" again. Rather than error on the safe side, the government is only testing a small sample of slaughtered cattle for mad cow disease.

But the U.S. Department of Agriculture says widespread testing is unnecessary. Its new "surveillance" program, expected to cost taxpayers $70 million, aims to test about 270,000 animals in the next 18 months, compared with about 35 million slaughtered annually.

2. Why should taxpayers pay for testing for mad cow disease? Shouldn't the beef producers shoulder the cost and pass it along?

3. It seems that Bush can (OR WILL) not control the Agriculture Department bureaucracy. Beef suppliers cannot even test for Mad Cow disease at their own expense.

Some private beef companies who have seen their profits sink because of lost sales to Japan have asked the USDA to allow them to buy government-licensed kits that they could use to test their entire herds at their own expense. They believe they could then market the beef as free of the disease and restart their Asian sales.

But the government has refused those requests. The Organization for Competitive Markets, an independent farmers group out of Nebraska, and other critics say the USDA's position favor corporate agriculture over small businesses.

What do you expect from a right wing rag that has a history of attacks on the Heinz family. The calls are certainly not condoned by the DNC. Both parties have their fruitcakes, and trust me, the Republicans have more than their fair share.

It appears that McNickle may be one of them. He is the editorial page editor who calls himself a "conservative commentator" who infiltrated the DNC. In his column he has written "It's a dirty job dealing with liberals, but somebody's gotta do it." No wonder he is the target of nasty attacks, he asked for it! No wonder Teresa Heinz Kerry cut him short, she had delt with him before.

Along these same lines, Karl Rove, Bush's primary political adviser has a long history of very nasty dirty tricks against both Democratic and Republican opposition. Have you heard of any similar figures in the Kerry camp?

Part Threat - Part Politics?

I personally believe that Al Qaeda has cells and weapons in the US ready to attack. I don't have any proof, it's just a gut feeling. One piece of news that really bothered me was news last week that a Pakistani woman with a ticket to New York was arrested at an airport in Texas after she snuck over the Mexican border. If she is connected to al Qaeda then she is most probably she was a suicide bomber. That means (to me) that cells must have bombs ready.

That being said, it seems that the latest heightened alert might be based on old data.
