I have a 12.5" F6 newtonian with pegasus mirror.

And this is what I captured with a webcam and what I seen through the eyepiece on the best night. From the eyepiece , it's maybe not as big as this toucam image(at 450x), but with all the detail and a lot smoother. I can see the blue festoon as fine string like structure which was really exciting.

clear skies,

WebCams and the Martian Atmosphere?

Posted By Yu Gu

That's a very nice image!
I tried to image mars with a modified toUcam (changed to b&w ccd) on 2003. And under blue filter there are lots of detail about Martian Atmosphere

Why are Synta OEM refractors such good value?

Posted By Yu Gu

I had the same impression too!

150mm F8 achromat - Very Good

8" F4.9 Newtonian - Superb!

2, 4.5" F8 Newtonian - Good

120ED - Superb!

Sold my TV102 after seen a 4.5" F8 Newtonian. Not enough visual difference to justify the cost difference.

Gu

PS. Attached is a jupiter photo from a $45 used 4.5" Newtonian
