Interesting bumper sticker today

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

The bumper on a bright new BIG red truck said,"Don't patronize Social Security and Medicare."

I found that very interesting. Sounds like a definite Technocrat. I wonder what he/she expects the older folks to do. Sit on the street corner and beg? Or maybe he/she prefers the "Logan's Run" solution and vacuum then all up in carousel!

There is, I'm sure, a solution to all the current ills of the country but that definitely isn't one.

I've seen the error of my ways.

In the past I have referred to President Bush as hsuB inferring a backward Bush. I realize that that word was rather degrading to a person that holds that high office. In the future I will refrain from using that derogatory term.

Any future reference will now be Son of a Bush!

Is Religion Instinctual?

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

I contend that religion is so ingrained in human evolution that the built-in trend to join together can be as strong as procreation!

When you look at all the other animals on this planet, with rare exception there is the very strong instinct to band together. Generally this is for mutual advantage such as preservation or cooperation.

It is a logical conclusion that the evolution of religion and the seeking of answers to problems and calamities we did not understand lead to religion.

When you examine the basic structure of most religions you have a central figure(s) telling the rest, what to believe, how to act, how to distribute resources for the good of the group, how to bind together for protection, etc.

The one difference is the animal pacts tend to restrict members to their own original group or progeny. Whereas religion wants to attract as many to the group as possible providing they meet the groups criteria.

It would be interesting to examine how many non-religious individuals consider themselves mildly to completely anti-social. This may explain why we have individuals who are not the least bit interested in religion.

I know that I'm not a joiner of anything and dislike large groups of people such as in a party where most of the conversation is blavering!

This requires some thought

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dream

And if you don't get it, that's okay too.

Refreshing and original idea.

VATICAN CITY (AP) - Pope Benedict XVI told African bishops Friday that abstinence is the only "fail-safe" way to prevent the spread of HIV, reiterating the Roman Catholic Church's teaching to the prelates from a continent ravaged by the virus.

There's nothing like freshing originality and aptness of thought is there!

That might have been new idea in 900AD. Sure as hell didn't work then, doubt if it will work now, but when in doubt try repeating everything we've done before. What ignorance!

Hot Stuff for Son of a Bush; Peek-a-Boo

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Blond porn star, political candidate. And now you can add one more line to Mary Carey's resume: Republican booster.

Carey was in Washington Tuesday to attend the President's Dinner, an annual fundraiser put on by the National Republican Congressional Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee. 8O

Wonder what Laura thinks about that?

Re: 7 of 10 Americans Conspiracy Nuts

The real conspiracy is to make everyone who thinks there is a conspiracy, look like a lunatic.

Maybe there is UFO's but if you say you've seen one you're immediately placed in the lunatic fringe, right!

I'm with Fox Mulder, "Trust No One!"

Governmentium

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

A major research institution has recently announced the discovery of the heaviest chemical element yet known to science. The new element has been named "Governmentium". Governmentium has 1 neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 11 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312. These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since governmentium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can easily be detected as it impedes every reaction with which it comes in contact. A minute amount of governmentium has been shown to cause one reaction to take over 4 days to complete, when it would normally take less than a second.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2 to 4 years; however, it does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization causes some morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.

This characteristic of moron-promotion leads some scientists to speculate that governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as "Critical Morass".

You will know it when you see it.
