that might save someone, good thinkin. I have a friend in another state, his car was broken in to, he lost his Orion Mak, all this eyepeices.... plus some other stuff. It was at an observatory for his astro-club 
Also, in the town I work in, a guy was in the park at night with his apo and got mugged for it and all this asto stuff.
So there are "astro-predators" out there! Hope this saves someone,

I only use a broadband in my backyard. At a dark site I don't use it, but have peered through a 16 with an OIII at the Veil. From my limited experience (like most say), depending on how dark and what your looking at can make a big difference. So many of those filters seem so specialized.
