Morning Mars June 23 2005

Wes,

Wow! That is a fabulous image!! I just got my new computer up and running and got the Lum attached and working. Now I just need to move the computer to the cart and try it out. I am hoping...if we don't get another dust storm tonite....to try it tonight.

From my playing with Streampix, I think I have a lot to learn, but I'm sure with the help of you and others, I'll get the hang of it.

Alan,

If that's the last image of this year, you went out with a bang. A really nice image.

Lumenera Camera using Registax. Please Help

Posted By Paul Maxson

Jim,

Did you do a conversion from Seq to Avi, or did you capture straight Avi? If the first, maybe the Avi had a "tweak" in it that Registax didn't like. I remember that Registax is particular about some avi's. You might try running it through Virtualdub and see what happens. Otherwise, you got me...you could send email to Cor and see if he has any ideas.

Processing Software

Posted By Paul Maxson

Stephen,

I use PaintShop Pro 9 for my post processing. One thing I like is that I can capture my post processing keystrokes to a macro and run it with one click on the mouse. Software is about $100 and for me has been well worth it. Images Plus is another good one, dedicated to astroimaging. It's about $200, but Mike Unsold is always upgrading the software to meet astro-users needs. Also, he has several tutorials that are helpful.

Tyler,

Pardon me if I have been out of the loop, but is the Tak a new scope for you? The M27 looks fantastic!!

Endymion - June 23

Kirk,

Excellent!! Very detailed. How are you able to stack 4700 images in Registax? When I reach about 2350 images my system gives an error. I have a P4 3ghz with 2 gigs of RAM.

Thanks!!!!

Eric,

Very nice!! It puts my images to shame! Did you resample to get the image larger? You must have used something besides Registax.

Very nice!!

Wes,

Really excellent!! Great colour. I have seen other reports of the rift in the SPC, your's is the best image I've seen of it.

On another note: Is there a chance you could post your settings, like exposure time, gain, U and V colour balance, etc? For some reason I'm still getting a mesh pattern in some of my images and I don't see it in your's.

Thanks!!
Paul

Hi,

I had some fairly good seeing this morning maybe 6/10, it appears as though there is a rift or break developing in the SPC several raw frames show that too.

18" Reflector, 12500mm FL, Lumenera LUO75C camera, 81fps, stack of 642/8200

Thanks,

Wes Higgins
