Still testing: moon

Luca,

Was that shot in the B&W mode with the beta software? I hope so, because the image looks great and B&W mode in 3.16.5 is not good. I am looking forward to shooting lunar images in B&W with the Lum.

Unpopular Craters

Posted By Paul Maxson

Wes,

One way to make a crater popular is to dote on it. Very, very nice!! I have lately always tried to find an unfamilar crater any time I image the moon....of course, when it is 110 outside, the moon fairly swims in the atmosphere!! grin

first early Mars

Alan,

Very impressive. I like the colour and the detail is resounding! Like you say, it's only half way to it's largest.

Remember when 10" of arc was considered the smallest that any useful images could be done....HA! We sure broke THAT barrier! grin

Opinion on Mars images please...

Posted By Paul Maxson

A is more heavily processed than B, stronger unsharp mask. I was worried it might be ov erprocessed. I do like it's colour better though. So, maybe somewhere between the two. Ain't it fun!! grin

Thanks for the input!

Paul,

Between the LU, new PC, and now new scope, I'm not sure you'll get any clear nights with Mars this fall..... grin

Seriously, congrats on the new scope!!! 8)
Looking forward to your upcoming images with it.

Wes,

Wow....excellent image and a crater worthy of quality imaging... Makes me wonder why certain craters are so popular and others as nice are barely seen.

Mars last night ( wrong image)

Brian,

That's not a terrible image, but I wonder if F/60 might be too much scale. Have you tried something like F/30 and see how it comes out? I just received a Mewlon 250, waiting on a missing counterbalance weight and am hoping it performs to it's reputation.
