Alan,

Very nice! I like the way features look when the sun is done in B&W.

Congratulations on getting your image at Spaceweather too!!

I have been saving a nice pile of video taken in during the August lunation of Plato and the surrounding regions to keep me busy during our long Buffalo winter. A recent foot of snow encouraged me to get started - this is the first of the batch.

The project of assembling a large mosaic should take me a long time. The seeing was mostly fair but good at times. I wound up processing this more than I would have liked.

Captured with the 10" mak and DMK21BF04 webcam - 256 frames selected from 900.

best -
Alan

Even the pros are into fast imaging

Soooo....how soon until Streampix supports the Lucky Camera I wonder... (trying to imagine the size of a million frame Seq file).... grin

I'd love to see them turn the scope and camera on Mars sometime.

Hi,

For the last three years myself and a few other people have touted the advantages of imaging at high frames per second and now it looks like some pros are trying it although I think they could have come up with a better name than lucky imaging with a luckycamera smile , see link below

Thanks,

Mars December 6

Posted By Paul Maxson

Jim,

Better than fair, it's very nice. Seems odd now that Mars has passed opposition, lots of folks have stopped imaging it. Yet it is still larger now than it will be on next opposition. I'm so far behind in processing...I have 3-4 sets of avi's to process yet.

First Ever Mars, First with new scope

Gregg,

What a nice result for all your first's. The only thing left is practice, practice, practice... grin , which with a setup like that should be lots of fun!

Not the best seeing in the world, and I normally shoot the planets with my C-11, but I took a shot of Saturn with the 5" APO. 2 minute video, 1200 frames, 5X Powermate.

Mars december 13, 2005

Jim,

Could you see that haze visually in the preview screen while imaging? I could see it while I was imaging and am anxious to see the processed images...especially since I think seeing was pretty good last night.

A puzzling set of Deimos images.

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

We were able to find the stars on other star charts...the sky is right and the Starry Night was wrong... LOL!!

Hi all,

Here is a link to two images that are baffling me. They are images of Deimos I got on the evening of December 19, 2005 (early a.m. UT...times on the images). Deimos shows up nicely, but there are two additional stars in the field that I cannot account for. The Starry Nite representations show stars to magnitude 16 and none are in the places. Phobos was too close to Mars to be seen. Does anyone else have another chart that they can look at and see if Starry Nite is missing a couple of stars? Comparing them to Deimos, the stars would be about 12th mag. Otherwise, I'm quite happy with the images.

Thanks!!!
