Is Mars-Eye Finder same as Giant Mars Finder?

Walt

Consider the Telrad or Rigel finder instead.

Fujinon 25X150

Posted By john raymond

Folks spend that kind of money on imaging setups, not visual scopes.

The Fuji 70mm binos are rather common by comparison. In your quest for good binoculars, try Swarovski SLC 50mm one night.

There are some other scopes that are seldom seen for sale:

Parks newts
Parallax newts
Questar 7", 12"
A-P 7", 8" refractors
JMI 40" (folded?) newt
D&G 8", 11"
BO 8" Apo refractor (I know someone who supposedly has one on order since 2003, 1 of 4 made. Im a little skeptical)

wondered why I almost never see any used ones for sale. Is it because they are so good that no one would ever think of selling theirs? George

How do you form a club when all the active observers are anti-social?

Nagler 11mm Type 1 vs. the New Type 6

Posted By john raymond

The Type 6 Naglers are the best mid-to high power ep's out there, IMO, for several reasons. (Best for most viewing situations.) There are some nights I like Orthos for planetary viewing.

My experience:

Work good in all scopes, even my Antares 50 and 80 mm finders.

Televue parfocal group "B", the best parfocal class to be in.

Parfocal when used with TV 2x barlow

Lightweight and small, close in size and weight to the 32 ploss.

Binoview well

Immediately comfortable to view thru

I now use TV plossls 32-20mm for low power and T6's for high power. The type 4's are in storage.

Knowledge gleaned from Astromart:

If something goes wrong, repair is available.

Readily available at good prices due to Ethos mania.

Hope this helps.
John

Tell me about your Round Table

Its a good mount for the money. Mine is long gone but not forgotten.

I had Brian put a north arrow on top for easy alignment after dark.

How do I get a (bogus) bad rating removed?

Posted By john raymond

Mike

Looking at your profile you have recieved 17 good ratings but only given 3.

Why only 3 ???
