There's nothing to be embarrassed about, John, that's an excellent image of a difficult target. You might want to lower your black point a bit, though; You've clipped some low end data. Keep posting.

I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of adjusting the color balance of your image so that it comes closer to matching the usual colors that we see for M31. Other than that, it's a fine looking image.

Incredible, Johannes. Your Rosette has it all: depth, smoothness, detail, and a rainbow of star colors. All this in 85 minutes of exposure time. Imaging at this focal length at f/3 has it advantages.
